Different things can cause alternator noise. You can get a device called a ground loop isolator that can filter the noise if it is originating from the RCA cables. Running your power wire along side your RCA cables can cause it too. Always run your power wire on the drivers side and your RCA's leading to the amp on the passenger side to keep them seperated.

i ran the rcas and power on different sides, but today i turned the gains down so i have to crank up the head unit more and the noise has been decreased dramatically,
Thanks Clay

Since that worked, it means your noise is being introduced in the RCA cables that lead from your head unit to the amp. A GLI inline with your RCA cables would fix the problem completely if you later find that turning the gain down on your amp doesn't help quite enough.

If you have a Rockford Punch amp, or at least one of the older ones, you will not get noise. They have the noise protection built in. ;)
