You'll have to do the same amount of work as if you were dropping a 4G63 in there. Too much money and too much work.:(

Thanks for the info. I did some more reasearch and found out it is a lot more work than I can afford to do so guess ill just get a used 420A for the one I broke.

Replacing the 420A motor and turbocharging it is still cheaper than doing the 4G64 swap.;)

out of curiousity, how important is the car to you? have you put alot of money/time into it. are you just looking to make it faster or have something not many others do???

You might even think about replacing the motor and trying to pick up a cheap 1g turbo. that way you can keep a nice reliable daily driver and have ur fun as well.

just a thought. good luck.

Thanks for you idea, I have actually after a lot of research realized that it is more work than I can handel by myself, and too much money to have someone else do the conversion for me. I went and put in the 420A and will put a turbo on that it wont be as fast as the 4g63 but will give me a little more boost. I love the car it is in great shape and have put a lot of after market parts on it so I dont want to sell it i will just add to it and make it nice on the outside and quicker on the inside. Thanks again for your reply as well as everyone else who replyed.

they acutually swapped a evo 8 motor n a rs it bolts right in. you have to change the bellhousing on the 420A transmission but other then that everything bolts in google it.its i tiawan or some ish of coarse it wont be awd but still perfect sleeper

Wow I didn't even notice the oldness of this thread untill Jp's post. No wonder Shotts rule number seven was lacking, he was a newbie back then lol.

If you think it is that simple, you will be in for a unpleasant suprise. I have yet to see one running here in the US, many people have began swaps and for some strage reason they all have quit before finishing. At this point I think its safe to say that it is not an easy swap.

Yep... All the more reason to turbo the 420a! :tat: :chair:

Yep... All the more reason to throw all 420a's to the junkyard and get an awd DSM :D
Fixed it for you :D

There is no 4g bellhousing that bolts to the 420a tranny, it doesn't work like that, i know that is what they guy said that was posting it on here, but they are totally different trannies, and there is nothing compatible about either one of them, i've built plenty of both, nothing close to the same.

Which reminds me, that kid still hasn't posted pictures yet after calling me out. I'm going to go bump that thread.

I KNOW THIS THREAD IS AS OLD AS THE GIZA PYRAMID BUT...

If you want the God's honest truth, do a lot more research on the sub-frame structure of the talon Tsi AWD and Eclipse GSX as well as the power-train and drive-train design and setup. only then should you look into the idea of the Evo VII-IX idea. You'll essentially need the entire sub-frame and drive-train from an AWD DSM then custom motor/tranny mounts (stock mounts will not only be too weak but also not quite a direct bolt in) as well as custom wiring harness and standalone ECU. to tap it off you need the $6-8000 power-train/drive-train of the Evo you wish to swap in.
If you happen to have between $12000 and $16000 burnisng a hole in your pocket that an Evo or already AWD DSM can't satisfy, then go for it. But your money WILL go a LOT farther if its used toward an already AWD turbocharged vehicle.

I hope that helps put into perspective the reason poeple start the conversion and then quit. Even without the AWD conversion its running close to $12000, and most kids just jump into it and figure that out half-way through.
