I posted this a while back to the speed extremeties kill board and thought that I'd put it in here as well. Although the car I had at the point in time when this happened was only running 13.0s, I still think that it is my favorite kill.
Okay, this one was quite a while back, but I got into reading some of the other kills on the board and thought I would share this one (one of my personal favorites...and not because it was a Viper). My Girlfriend (now wife) and I were coming home from the local Mall (groan) about a year ago. We were driving one of my previous GVR4s (Black '92). About 500 feet after we turned out of the mall parking lot, we came up to a stoplight. As we're sitting there (her going through her bags of goods that she bought), this Red RT/10 pulls up along side of me. I look over to appreciate the car, and notice a Frat-Boy looking guy siting there in a tanktop and his baseball cap on backwards. Another kid out in Daddy's Viper (yeah, okay, so I have to admit I was a little jealous). At this point my wife notices that I'm staring at something past her out the window. She looks over and is greeted by his "Yeah, you know you think I'm cool" grin as he looks her over. She looks away saying "What an A$$hole". So, at this point, she's pissed off. I think "What the hell" and say (yeah, yeah...make all the ball and chain and "whipped" comments at this point and get them over with....) "Ummm...I know you don't like me street racing, but this is a "once in a lifetime" chance...". She reaches up with her right hand, grabs the "Oh Sh!t" handle, looks straight ahead and says "Do what you want". I think at this point the grin on my face had me resembling Ralphie from "A Christmas Story" when he opened up his Red Ryder BB gun on Christmas morning. I revved the car ever so slightly (enough to get a nice "psssssshhhht" from the BOV), and look over at the guy. He looks back over at me with this "You've *GOT* to be kidding me" look on his face and revves the beasts 10 cylinder back in response...so it's on. I was leaving *nothing* to chance on this one. I watched the side lights to turn yellow and brought my car up to about 5000 rpms. He is fanning his pedal as well. The light turns green and I proceed to put about a car length on him before my tires completely hook up. 2nd gear nets me about another car, and 3rd I don't gain, but he isn't catching me either. I take it to about 6500 in 3rd and put the brakes on for the next light. Like a dream come true, we're side by side at the next light as well. He pulls up next to me finally, and glances over to see my wife laughing at him. He whips his head back so he's facing forward again, puts on his turnsignal and makes an immediate departure taking a right turn. Ahhh...was nice to know that he wouldn't have that feeling of invulnerability again any time soon.
