I was hanging out at the local gas station (I live in a small town) when two riced out Civics and a C-4 vette pulled into fill up. I still don't know what the vette was doing crusing with the Honduhs. I will admit, I have never seen another car look as nice as that blue Civic Si. The guy told me he had almost $30,000 invested in the car, WHY?! He runs mid 15's at Rocky Mtn. Raceway (elevation around 5,000 ft) He told me he wanted a show car that could back up the looks. Guess he spent $10,000 on paint and the body kit alone. Anyways, I asked if he wanted to race, he declined and offered to have the vette race me. Why not, I wanted to see what my car could do since none of my friends had seen it run before, and didn't believe I could spank the red v-8 monster. So much for support of friends. The guy was so sure he would leave me in the dust, he bet me $100. I upped the anti and suggested that when I beat him, he let me drive his car for a night of my choice. Thinking it would never happen he agreed. I love people like that! Needless to say, I left him in the dust the first race, he was little ticked off. He pulled over and claimed he didn't get a good launch and we should go again. Remebering I had a 1/4 tank of 100 octain from the night before, I popped the hood and raised the boost to around 21 psi. The second race not only did I blow his doors off, I sprayed small rocks all over the hood of his car from my launch. I know I shouldn't spin the tires when racing, but I had to show off a little for the crowd. I beat him by a good four, five cars. He was really pissed off this time. When I got back to the line he made me pop the hood and show him what my engine was made of. He insisted that my Hallman m/b/c was an adjustment for NOS. Stupid stupid stupid. Needless to say when I called the number he gave me to claim my prize the next weekend, the person that answered the phone had no idea who he was. Typical, I didn't want to take his baby after I took his pride anyways.
