Lost to a Honda

Hey guys. Just got in from hanging out with my dsm buds. One of them had their friend come out that was talking shit about dsm's. Since I was the fastest functional dsm there, I had to represent. lol.

The Honda: early 90's hatchback with the cr-v engine with the b16 head.. lots of work (I think he said $10k). 60-1 turbo. Lots of stuff. Fast fucking car, but doesn't hook up well.

My car: the shit in my signature... and it doesn't hook up either.

The race: We were pretty even through 1st even though I was hopping like a maniac (bad enough to move my mirror out of the spot I had it). Once I got into 2nd, I spun, and he flew by putting about 2 cars on me. I put it into 3rd early since 2nd was out of the picture. He kept walking me.

I don't really mind the loss. It's a fast fucking car, and my car is only my quick daily driver. :) It still sucks that I lost to a honda, though. lol. Stupid fwd.

sucks that you lost, you know its time to invest more money in the car when you lose to a honda :D

Nah. I don't have much more planned for my car. Just clutch, motor mount inserts, and lowering it again. Then I might have some traction. Then there's a chance I may get cams.

That guy... his car is a race car. Lots of money into it.. My car doesnt' have too much into it.. at least not compared to him. Also, he could actualy deal with his loss of tracton better than I can. lol.

ew, wheel hop. do yourself a favor, get an lsd and prothanes before you do what i did and blow your stock diff lol. you wont regret those mods, i know i dont.

Ya.. I'm planning on it. Either that, or selling my car, and putting the mods on a 1g awd.

Yeah, I was there and I saw everything. It was a pretty much lopsided race. I took a ride in that Civic hatchback and it was a crazy ass ride. It was a full house in the ride with 4 people total and it was still hauling ass. The guy doesn't have traction till the top of 3rd with no seat belts and no brakes. Hes got a lot of balls driving that thing at that speed. He bruied the tach well over 9k for 3-4 seconds before he shifted every single time. I'm pretty sure that guy could have had you even more if he drove his car right, Will. He had 1 hand on the steering wheel and 1 hand on the shift knob the whole time he was driving and complaining about no brakes and traction. It was a crazy car and a crazy driver.

Will, you should have seen how bad he had chino's car while we were all in there. But than Chino does have a slipping clutch.

sucks that you lost, honda defeats are always the worst. Kinda puzzles me a little with the mods you got how you lost to a b16 honda. Those engines are normally supercharged, with that huge turbo i am surprised it made very much power at all. I dunno maybe he had nitrous? :)

Allen.. my right hand doesn't touch the steering wheel while racing.. unless it's straight highway racing. Also, it was my first time launching the car since the last time I was at the track. Quite rusty. :rolleyes: He had a few practice runs before we went. I asked to go again, and he didn't say anything.. so whatever.

Blazer.. the car is fucking fast. No rice.. just go-fast parts. It's one of those few hondas done right.

I live in Alabama and i have some friends that work at a place in Florida called Notourious Motorsports. They have one of the fastest Hondas I have ever seen. They have a fully built Honda Civic hatch. We went over there and was talking to him and he asked if we wanted to see some crazy shit we were like yeah. So he get in and he told us what he was going to do, one guy was like bullshit so he jumped in the car also. Well he went down the road and he started heading back he was hittin about a 100 mph in fourth gear when he was getting close to us he put it in fifth and punched and he started boiling the tires down at 110 mph. They came back and the guy that went with him pissed all over his self. That is the baddest and fastest Civic iv'e ever seen.I think he said he runs high or low 9's cant remember.

its not a b16 motor. its a crv block (2.0L) with a b16 vtec head.
so its a 2.0 vtec. all motor should put out about 200hp with just basic mods (i/h/e). with that turbo 350hp easily in a car that weighs around 2000lbs.

I have a freind thats building a b20/vtec turbo setup in his civic.....im pretty sure when he gets done the thing will be very impressive. Right now he just has the b20 with basic modds and stuff and it has an ass load of torque for a honda. I would have loved to see that hatch in action.

*side note* it is pretty fun riding in a honda with vtec(dohc the 1.6 single cams dont cout haha) and watching the tach just revv like a mad man! lol

Its okay Will, practice a little more and tune a little more and I'm sure you'll do a lot better if not beat him.

It was the launch. my car was tuned pretty good that night. I had it leaned out more than usual, but the egt's and o2's looked great. But I am losing boost in 3rd. There could be a boost leak making me run rich. Maybe I should replace those ratty looking silicone hoses that came with the ic when putting the new bumper on! hehe. It helped chino.. maybe it'll do the same for me.

Since that night.. I've been trying to practice launching. Still get hop in 1st if I'm not careful. :(

What motor mount inserts do you have now if you plan on getting more? I did the front and rear and from what I can tell eliminated wheel hop on my FWD. I had just the front in when I went to the track and it still hopped like a madman, grenading my differential. I wouldn't practice launching so much unless you are ready to buy a new transmission for your car.

I have no inserts right now. I practice 2-3 times only. lol.

ugghh it always sucks to lose to a honda man. not that i ever have, but i can only imagine. i give u props anyway cause if its got what u said that guys got some serious shit done to it. :tree:

yea that civic u raced was only running 15 pounds of boost when u guys raced he can run alot more i know set up ....his turbo wont even make good power at 15 pounds ...so u better watch out when he turns it up...

I know. It's a high boost turbo. I was a little confused when he said 15psi, but figured since it was a honda, it was average. hehe.

the CRVtec is a wicked combo. ive been reading about doing one cause im gunna build a CRX for autocrossing. im not gunn a whore this thread about it. good loss it sounds like that honda is wicked fast and it would be sweet to see a video.

He raced one of the other guys in my club the other night. Won once, lost once. It was a 1g gsx with webcams, exhaust, vpc, and other little mods. Basically ready for a turbo swap. He only won by a small margin when they raced, and that's all in the launch. The guy was catching up fast. Now the 1g kid is saying I'm slow b/c I lost. :rolleyes:

Maybe I can get him to race again when he gets back from Florida. He'll be down there for a few months.

I love how people toss around the term "fully built".

Also, like was already said, supercharging b16s (or any 4cyl) won't make much power when compared to a turbo. Can't believe someone said a supercharger should make more.

I wish there were honda owners like that around here. I'd love to put someone like that in their place.

$10k in mods, don't feel to bad. just know that if you spend less than 1/2 that you'd own him

Hey Will, who's 1g was it? Do I know the guy? And what set up did the 1g have besides what you mentioned above?

It was Chris Carrol. I don't know exactly what he has, but he's told me many times all he has to do is swap in a turbo and injectors, and he's good to go. lol.
