So I'm driving home last night from a friends house. I'm crusing down State Street around 10pm when an older 5.0 blows by me doing about 80mph. I proceed to pass him and let him know I'm right behind him. We come to a red light, he leans out the window and yells something like, "All you import guys are the same, you think those little four bangers are hot ****!" I shrugged at him and gave him a little blast from the b/o valve. He looked a little surprise. The light changed and I proceeded to pull two cars on him from the launch. The kicker is he pulled on me in 2nd gear to close to a car between us. In third I just couldn't pull away. I stayed about that distance ahead all the way until 80mph. I tapped my brakes to let him know it was over. I have never had a mustang stay that close to me before. (keep in mind I was only running 14psi with two friends and my tool box in the back, he was empty) Not even the cobras. I can pull three cars on 'em by that speed! He looked at me and said, "Yeah, you and your twin turbo's with all that blow off vavle ****." When I asked, all he would admit to was a K&N air filter. But he knew enough to know I had some race gas in the tank by the sweet smell. We raced again and the same thing, I pulled two cars, he gained a little and we stayed the same. I slowed down and let him pass and to look at his exhaust. I counld see his pipes, but I could here them. I've killed Vettes worse than that, but at 20psi. I noticed he also turned the tires in third gear (doesn't mean much, I've seen a stock WS6 do it) But I've never had any 5.0 hang with me that close before. I run high 13's in the 1/4, I was wondering what kind of mods a 5.0 needs to run that fast beside a really well built motor. I tried to listen for the super charger sound but it was too noisy to hear anything. A kill is a kill, I didn't loose but it was too close.

Close kill! I had the same thing happen to me exept it was a WS6. He had a rolling start but I could barely make it up to nip his bumper. Then at the next light I pulled on him in second and he just stayed at my rear fender until the top of 4th. Then he started to reel me in. I was surprised. He never did let me know what was in there. He looked bone stock though...

A '88-89 Mustang 5.0 with intake and exhaust can turn out a high 13sec. pass. More than likely you found someone who can drive, not neccessarily a badass car.
