I know its not DSM related but thats only because it had a little accident. Anyway because of a little fender bender, my insurance company gave me a rental car which happened to be a brand new Maxima V-6(which I was impressed with the power for a stock car). Well a friend of mine has a 99 Gsr that he's dumped loads of money into and he likes to tell me about all the cars he's beat with it...but he wont race my GST because it has a "turbo"(go figure). It just so happened I was on my way home after I picked the Maxima up from Enterprise and I happened to see him going down the street, so I preceeded to catch up to him. Well when I finally catch him we are doing about 40mph and with him not knowing it was me, I through it in nuetral and gave him a little rev. Naturally he downshifts and tries to pull away, I dont catch him but he doesnt pull away either. When we both catch the next light he finally looks over with this big suprised look on his face talking **** saying "you dont want none, you dont want none of this" So when the light turns green we both just hit it, the AT Max spins the tires damn near through the entire first gear pulling away from him and the further we get down the road the more I can hear his V-tech bouncing of his rev-limiter sounding like a heard of bloated chipmunks!! I actually had about 1 1/2 car lengths on him. Once we slow down to a stop I asked him what happened (waiting on the, my clutch slipped or I missed a gear excuse). He actually admitted he gave it all he had and asked me who's car I had. I told him to look at the back of the trunk. When he saw the green "E" sticker, he couldnt believe he lost to a stock rental car.

Hilarious story! That just throws more fuel on the fire of the argument that when it comes to street racing, Honda's suck! On the real though, those Maxima's are the fastest production naturally aspirated V6's ever offered in a sedan. I test drove an A/T Max and was very impressed...the light weight V6 revs smoothly and freely all the way to redline.

Actually ...
The Audi A4 2.8 Quattro, Chrysler 300M, Pontiac Grand Prix GT sedan, Saturn LS2, and VW Jetta GLX are all as fast or faster in 0-60 and 1/4 mile performance than the 2000 Maxima, and all sport a NA V6 in a sedan.
In fact, back to the original post ... a *stock* Integra GSR should be faster than a 2K Max as well, don't know what happened there. Good kill, anyway! :)

No offense, but ... where'd you get this line, Car & Driver? :D

Well I didnt realize it was becoming a Nissan board, but hey why not add my $.02, the v6 has 222 hp and the curb weight is only 3200 so in theory it would take all of the stock E/T/L cause were 195/210 and weight at least 3200. That would mean a maxima should be doin 0-60 in the 6s which is real impressive, and 6 second 0-60s for honda guys are like impossible (well not really but you know what i mean). So yea I would have my money on the maxima just about anyday. Also the v6 is a much more constant hp than the vtec gsr.
your buddy with the gsr didn't know how to drive his car. I've got a 97 gsr with and intake and exhaust, and if he "dumped tons of money in" to it he should've blown you away. If he was bouncing off his revlimiter, he prolly missed a gear.
Don't get me wrong I love my dsm, but honda makes a quick car too.

i just had to respond. For one there is no way your intake and exhaust would beat a top of the line 2000 Maxima. i dont think that you have had the pleasure of racing one of them. I've seem a many of them beat the hell out of GSR's,Si's with three deep in the car. Honda doesnt make a pretty fast car, people do. Dont mean to offend you in anyway, just my .02 cents.

if you want a fast maxima, i met the guy with the only known supercharged maxima, at the time(bout 2 months ago) my shop that i go to put it in and this thing looked sweet!!! one hell of a bad ass sleeper!!! and to top it off he found a supercharged badge to go right under the SE on the back, looked stock as hell. except, though, for the guages on his pillar. not quite sure how fast it was but it looked really clean under the hood.
peace out

Maxima 0-60 6.8 They are pretty fast. My sister has a brand new sports edition and they will hand a GSR its ass on a silver plate. I used to own a GSR with some goodies, and she did it many times. DSM forever!

there are a lot of SC'd Maxima'a around. Well, maybe not a lot, but more then 1. I had a 97 Maxima SE before this car and it was sweet. NOt as fast as the TSI AWD that I have now, but pretty quick. In 5sp trim the do 0-60 in high 6's. There's a maxima forum, very similar to this one, at http://www.maxima.org There are at least a dozen guys on there with SC'd Max's, some of them put down 260-280hp, to the wheels!! Definitely a sleeper.
