Very nice! Schooled over and over again. Maybe mommy and daddy should have bought them a V-8. Well, I guess the outcome would have been the same. :o

This isn't a kill I'm proud of b/c of the car that I beat, but the guy's parents obviously just bought him a college car and he though he was hot sh!t. I'm driving home from the lab one night, and I'm about 1 mile from a merger with HWY 80 which takes me home. I look in my rear view and I see a new style Mustang gaining ground on me quick. The red Mustang is a 2000 V6 five-spd with two guys around 17 or 18. The car was brand spanking new and had the dealership tag on the back. The guys gets right beside me and is checking my car out, then he downshifts and cuts in front of me merging to HWY 80, I'm laughing so hard the road looks blurry. They hammer the throttle around the turn and I am sitting about 3 car lengths back. I hammer it as well and pass them one gear later like they were in a Honda. They watch me go buy and I'm thinking nothing of it..until I get to the next stop light. I'm channel surfing on the radio, and the Mustangs decides for some strange reason that he has a better chance from a standing start. I decide its time to teach a class on AWD launches, so when the light turns green the Mustangs spins his tires hard in 1st. I rev it to about 5500 and give the hapless Ford product a two car head start. The RS-As bite the pavement as I sling shot to their bumper, in 2nd I bend their sideview mirros forward as they are watching me with their mouths open. I roll my window down in third and motion with my wrist while screamin "Come on man come on come one" blipping the throttle over and over. They're looking at me like what in God's name is that thing? Thinking back, there are almost no DSM turbo's in this area which means those guys had no idea what they were getting into. Probably thought I was a N/A four banger ricer. I love these cars!

Jesse

PS- I'd like to race this 4.6 Saleen I've seen in this area....might be a better race! :) I'll definitely post that war story..win or lose!

The B and M shifter is nice. What I've come to realize is that no matter what you do to your shifter, you need a transmission fluid/lubricant that is up to the job. I switched from the factory fluid to BG Synchroshift which made a diffence in normal everyday driving. However, when drag racing, the gearbox becomes spongy and gears start to grind. I'm switching to REDLINE MTL asap.
But yes, the B and M shifter was a good mod.
Alittle more play than the stock shifter. Its basically like you have to get used to a new type of gearbox.

I like to say that I just put in a B&M shifter also and I must say it is the best $90 I have spent. The throws are 50% shorter and MUCH MORE solid! I love it!

Hey Mospeed where did you get the B&M for $90. RRE has it for $140 and that is the cheapest I've seen it.

$90 I feel abused. I spent 145 bucks for my B&M.

You really want to feel abused? I just order one from Carparts.com last week using one of those 33% off coupons. I got it for $96 then two days later I found out on the digest there was a group buy for them on www.groupbuycenter.com (http://www.groupbuycenter.com) for $76.

ROFL DiamondsR4EVR--Nice slaughter and taunt. I can't wait until my friend in his v6 cowstang attempts to race me. He always talks about how he is almost as fast as the 5.Slows and Z28's. Makes me laugh so much I almost bust out laughing in his face but I just can't diss him cuz he is a cool guy. ;) I got a funny quick story about a sa-lame 4.6 (coudlve been a body and exhaust kit on a gt or something, not sure but it looked real). 2 guys in a sa-lame pulled up next to me at a light and were checking out the goods (before i had rims though) and decided since the road turned into a freeway just ahead they were going to give it to me. Light goes green and we take off. They start to pull ahead of me but not as much as they think. At 90mph they decide its time to let off while I continue to zoom by. The funny thing was that when I looked over as I passed, all I saw was 2 confused morons trying so desperately to find an eclipse in the rear-view that they almost hit the freeway divider and the passenger just pointed. I was ROFL. The look on their faces as they realized that I was with them the whole time was so funny. Sorry no kill but funny as hell.

Hey Cazzo, those wheels are sweet! Did you lower the car any? Are they 18 in or 17?
I'm looking for some 18 inch wheels but I want them to be as light as possible. So far the lightest I've found are SSR GT1's 18X7.5 which weigh 17.5 lbs per wheel but the downside is they are 399.00 per wheel :(

UNfortunately these wheels arent light (about 30lb ea) and i can definately feel a horrible decrease in acceleration but, they arent 17 or 18 inch either. peace out. (wheel size and tire specs in my signature)

I was staring so hard at those wheels I totally missed the specs in your sig. I guess there is a tradeoff in good looks and performance. You don't have any suspension work listed in your signature but the car looks lowered.
