View Full Version : My experience with RNR Racing
 Well I'm not sure this is the right forum to post this in, if not, mods feel free to move it. I'm posting this to share my experience with RNR Racing and hopefully save some fellow dsm tuners the headaches I've experienced dealing with them.
I placed an order for my 1g FMIC Race kit on January 4th thinking that it would definetly not only be here but installed by the first hint of spring. Boy was I wrong. I previously have ordered their 3 inch turbo back exhaust system and this took 4-5 weeks so I knew they weren't especially prompt abut their shipping, but it was a quality system and worth the wait. When i ordered the FMIC kit I was expecting a similar wait time and if it took a little longer then that, no big deal.
I was NOT expecting to have to wait 3 months for it to arrive, I emailed them many times, tried calling them many times... they don't bother to answer the phone  . Well it finally arrived a few days ago... well most of it arrived anyways  they didnt bother to send me the J-pipe required to bolt it to my Evo3 16g, nor the 2 SPAL Slimline fans I ordered, and they sure didn't feel the need to send the coolant overflow bottle I paid for. .
The spearco core the kit includes came with many bent fins and half-assed welds on the mounting brackets. They didn't bother to ask what kind of BOV to flange the UICP for which isn't a big deal but inconvenient considering how much money I spent on the kit. They also don't ask if the vehichle has ABS or not so if the ghetto looking intercooling piping they sent me even bolts up without major hassles I'll be lucky.
I could rant more but I'm not going to, like I said I just wanted to share my experience and hopefully save some fellow DSMers some headaches. I will never order another product from them and I have to say it was the worst customer service I have ever recieved. :(
Have a nice day and don't order from RNR Racing

We will be making a "Vendor Review" section on the site here pretty soon. I'll move this post when that time comes, hopefully later today or tomorrow. For now, it can stay here.

I am going through the same BS with them right now. I also ordered a 1g race FMIC about 5 weeks ago. I called them on the phone and they assured me it would take no more than 2 weeks to ship. Now, they have nothing but excuses for me anytime I call. They constantly tell me they will email me a tracking number "tomorrow". I even have an email from Ryan Fellows saying "I guarantee I will have a tracking number by tomorrow afternoon" dated March 23. I call them 2-3 times a week and they give me a different run-around answer everytime I call.
I am done with them now - I am disputing my charge to my credit card and will call RNR again tomorrow to let them know I am done with the BS.
Stay away from them - they are full of BS.
The tracking number they sent us ended up being bogus anyways, I think it's a good idea that you cancel the order because even after they claimed they had shipped it, it took at least 3 weeks for it to actually arrive  And they might not even send you everything you ordered which is where I'm at right now. The piping that the kit comes with looks super ghetto anyways, mild steel which has the sizing numbers printed on it in big numbers, "2.500 inch" etc. And because it's a low quality steel we cant polish it, so it looks like I might end up just spraypainting it :o There is no reason to deal with this kind of BS when there are plenty of other companies out there who actually have good customer service and prompt shipping, and for that price I just assumed the kit would include polished piping... but thats just too much to expect out of them

lol i ordered my FMIC from rnr racing also. took 2 months, bov flange was warped, had to re-weld one of the lower pipes, and they forgot(?) to send one pipe. they are the worst

You cant polish mild steel anyways. Well you might get it looking decent, but if it were mild steel it would rust in 35 seconds.

Not to rub any salt in any wounds, but did you guys do some research before buying your FMICs? I can think of a few with very good feedback from members: For Example.
1. Buschur.
2. Dejon Tool.
3. AGP.
4. Kinetic.
4. SBR.
5. Extreme PSI.
6. RRE.
7. Speed Design.
8. Hahn...
..just to mention a few.
Just some of the very well put together kits. How do you manage to pick up one with very poor feedback?

I ordered a downpipe from them a couple years ago. It was about 2 months before I went to Iraq.
The damn thing didnt show up till after I got deployed. I see they havent improved
Ill never recomend them ever. Sometimes you get what you pay for, but that doesnt include lying.

Temporarily locked for if/when the Vendor Review forum shows up. This forum is for discussing parts, not vendors. Hence Parts Talk, not Vendor Talk.

Hehe, what are we gonna do when this thread is full of "these guys are assclowns" posts? I was just wondering. :D

On the other hand, my friends RNR exhaust, when it did finally show up, looks awesome and fit pretty well. The slip joint is convenient, but certainly ghetto.

I was skeptical at first seeing as my exhaust took a few months to get here, but after seeing the job they pulled on this FMIC i have made up my mind, and the wont get another penny from me. It is just not worth the risk when there are so many other companys with good feedback. In most cases you get what you pay for but this is an exception. BEST OF LUCK all of those who have orders in progress right now.

Its like the old proverb says.
If its cheap and good its not fast.
If its cheap and fast its not good.
If its fast and good its not cheap.
They can do good work, but their customer service sucks. Simple economics would say if you have a surplus of demand then your price is too low. They need to up their price to lower demand, or upper the production possibility.

I had ordered my turbo back 3 inch exhaust for my 2g and it took them 11 weeks until i recieved it from my order date. The exhaust was very nice, but i was not happy with the turn around time it took them to send it to me, and my numerous phone calls to them to find out where my exhaust was...I would not recommend RNR if you want your parts asap..

This was a big dilema on Tuners for along time no one on that site wanted to deal with all the crap that comes along with a section like that. Because of this I and another member created www.vendors-reviewed.com. I know that Joe, the "other guy", has emailed ekool about it to see if you guys wanted it to be handled by us. If this is against the rules I apologize and wont worry if this post gets deleted.

I've directed people to your site on one occasion. Ideally it would all go to you but the fact is that users don't like to listen. I envision this forum being pretty strictly moderated though (by me :D) so it may end up being a little different from yours. I guess time will tell.

Sounds good and thanks for the referals. I hope it will get a bit bigger and become a better resource, but like you said only time will tell.
As for the topic, my exhaust took almost 9 weeks to get to me even though every week it was sent out yesteday. I love the product but the customers service just sucks. I will NEVER order from them again.
Yeah my exhaust took about 5 weeks to get here and it was actually a decent product. My FMIC kit took 3 months to get here and it's total crap if you ask me. I'm thinking about sending it back but they have a 30 percent restocking fee which is total BS. If I decide to keep the kit i'll probably end up getting I/C piping that actually looks nice, maybe dejontool but it sucks that I should have to waste more money just because their kit sucks.
RNR screwed me over and I'm having to drive my car around FWD right now so we can dyno it but I need to get the I/C on first so we can tune it correctly and I'm waiting for the F'ing J-pipe they were supposed to send out. And of course they still aren't answering their phone or responding to e-mails. Spring is here and I'm sure me and all my car friends will be wanting to go to the track soon but my car isn't where I was planning/hoping it would be. Thanks RNR Racing
I was thinking about ordering other stuff from them in the future but now there is just no way, if this is a company that thrives on word of mouth hopefully they will go out of business soon, I know I'm telling everyone I know never to order from them.

it took me about 2 months to get my exhaust, and when it arrived, the box was about destroyed and the pipes were about hanging out from poor packing

My review with RNR racing......
I called up last may and ordered a custom downpipe, that had an axternal dump that fed all the way back to the cat, and was to be powdercoated to withstand 2000 degress.
I received a downpipe back in September of last year, which was there special of the month, uncoated and the o2 Dump exited at the oil filter.
I had spent 25 minutes on the phone explaining what I had changed and modified for this pipe to work properly, and how much I needed this setup in this exact way.
I had called back not to receive a reply by day 4. I had emailed him, and received a prompt reply the next morning. He siad the downpipe was impossible to make, and that their coatign guy was so backed up that I coudl get it done myself.
So for his cheapo special he charged me roughly double the price, and did not deliver the product I ordered. He also assumed I'd be okay and never refunded my credit card, I had to deal with my credit card company on my own over the situation which we all know isn't fun either. HE said eh woudl not refund me shippign though in the beginning it was understood that I had relocated my oil filter for a 1 7/8" pipe to be able to pass through there no problem next to a 3" downpipe, to be able to dump past the oil pan, before the cat and be coated.
RNR does nto care about you or waht custom part you may order, they liek making cheap cookie cutter parts, and I will say they are one of the most beautiful quality welders I've seen, but they arne't worht double the price by far, and I hope that their we dont' care about you reputation eventually gets them shut down.

My buddy had me order a 2g FMIC kit from them last year, took the damn guy 4 months to ship it out, I thought it was fishy that RNR uses a free yahoo email account, not sure if it changed now, but thats what his email was back then.
Anway, the kit was supposed to come with a 14 inch slim fan, and of course it did not, so I called him for like 2 weeks before I finnaly got ahold him, he sent it out and when I got it it was in a box full of penuts, the fan had no box of it's own, no mounting hardware and it was a 12inch fan, and to top it off, the damn thing was used!!! So I said the hell with this and sent the fan back and me and my buddy sold the kit for dirt cheap as we did not like the way it looked.
Crap when the FMIC came in, the mounted plate on top of the FMIC was poking out of the damn shipping box!!
I give big thumbs down on this place.

I ordered a turboback 1 month ago from these guys and it said it would come within 1 week. I called after a week and they gave me a date it would be shipped. Then i called on that day and they gave me another day it would be shipped. They keep on procrastinating and everytime I try and come to an agreement with them all they say is "Well we could refund you your money". Im pretty dissapointed with this company.
Yeah so I ended up having to buy a slowboy racing J-Pipe too... prompt shipping by them I must say. Anyways RNR told me they were going to ship out the J-Pipe, overflow bottle and slimline fans april 4th after I sent them a complaint e-mail, and the owner Ryan Fellows, who is just a lying POS told me they would ship the parts out the next day and it would be here in 3-4 days. After waiting almost another month I just said screw it and I'm ordering parts from reputable companies who actually care about customer service and satisfaction and I'd recommend everyone else do the same. RNR Racing is just a joke

i bought a 3" turbo back from them november of 04. after 3 months i cancelled the order through my credit car company. it showed up a week later and i got my money back. the system was beautiful but i ended up selling it on the trader. i would have gladly paid the guy if he wouldnt have lied through his teeth every time i talked to him or recieved an email from him. i for one would never recommend this company.

I also waited a long time almost 2-3 months for my 3" catback it is nice quality but shit the wait is not worth it and the lack of contact from the vendor. Never recommend them ever.

I was the one who helped Colin order his parts and for the most part I took care of it. RnR racing is complete trash for a company and their customer service is terrible. It blows my mind to think that companies can screw customers over and still stay in business. I know if I did that to my clients I would be walking..............

My experience with RNR: I was searching on tuners for cheaper exhausts, came across RNR and ordered up their 2.5 turboback exhaust. They of course didn't ship when the said they would, they lied just like they did to everyone else, and we got it 3 months later just like everyone else. It was really cool, how they stuffed everything into the box without padding and how there were gigantic fist sized holes in the box too (and I have big hands). I wouldn't say its quality either, the rearmost pipe section was bent wrong/welded wrong and almost touched the ground. We got ahold of Ryan, and he said "We'll fix it". BIG MISTAKE! He kept it for 3 more months, and we thought we weren't going to get it back. The credit card company and a lawyer were involved in this big drama.
When he finally sent it back, it was STILL wrong, just not as bad. We took it to SLS and they fixed it for us. Its really too bad that I didn't know of www.dsmreviews.com at the time, otherwise I could've saved myself a major headache. Live and learn I guess, I will never recommend RNR for anything ever to anyone, even people I hate.
