Has anyone done business with them before? I need a new ball joint and CV shaft and my brother recommended me this place. Apparently he got recommended to by someone on the MR2 forums.

Jim (I believe that is his name) is a great guy to deal with. I bought an axle from him for my NT a few years ago. Very smooth and great transaction.

There have been many postive comments made about Raxles from guys who are making huge amounts of power on their DSM. You will not have a problem with them.

Here is what you send them...
http://www.kentallman.com/paul/91%20Colt/3.24.04/turboaxles-5.jpg

And here is what you get back.

Those are the SAME axles. Turnaround was under a week.

Raxels will always get my business.

A good amount of SE-R guys go with them, which is how I heard of them to begin with. I ordered axles from them for my SE-R a little over a year ago, Mardi was a big help and easy to deal with. Mardi shipped them out and I received them fairly quickly (I believe it took about a week or less with the ground shipping) and he was understanding that it would take a little while for me to get him the cores back.

Marty is the guys name.Yep, great guy. I bought new front axles for the Stealth and all eight boots for the GSX.
He went out of his way to answer any questions I had after reading the VFAQ about cleaning and repacking the joints on the GSX and when I had problems getting the intermediate shaft off the driver side axle.

His prices are reasonable and the quality is outstanding.

Wow, I was hoping for some feedback, but this is over the top...9 out of 9 positive replies? These guys must be good :)
I'm not sure of prices in general but are they priced competitively?

Thanks guys, this really makes it easy for me :)

btw I sent them an email inquiry on yesterday evening and they got back to me within 10 minutes. Marty was the guy who replied.

Thanks again!

I'm not sure of prices in general but are they priced competitively?Compared to who. What you get from Raxles is a much better product than going to some autoparts store but a little more expensive. The peace of mind that they are going to be the right ones the first time and most likely never have to be replaced again was well worth it.

You can find the axles cheaper but they will be cheaper, sometimes a lot cheaper.

Well, I'm just trying to figure out a ballpark figure. Is it significantly more expensive, say 50-100% more? Or is it more like a slight increase, say 10-20%? What about compared to say original parts direct from a Mitsu dealer?

stevep
04-12-2005, 01:53 AM
I don't remember off hand but it's more like $20 over the autoparts stores and way less than Mitsubishi.

I run his front stock axles in my race car with no problem. He uses synthetic grease which helps. I got the axles faster than ordering and getting them from a local parts store which I know I would have broke by now. He rebuilds them with new parts too.

I've ordered from him before. I'd have to say that in the 6 years that I've worked on DSMs, I think he is the only vendor I've never heard anything negative about. Excellent service.

Another satisfied customer. Got my axles in about 4 days from FL to san diego. For two front axles on my 1G AWD talon + tax and shipping it was 309.75$. Not too bad for top of the line stuff.

I was impressed that Marty was there every time i called (2 0r 3 times) and was very friendly and helpful.

I'm a little confused. I contacted them inquiring on their axles and they told me that their axles does not include the "Jackshaft with Bearing" That it stays on the car. But yet the pictures shown here show the entire complete set. How did you guys get the entire set (Short Pass side axle and Long Driver side axle)

stevep
08-18-2005, 04:03 AM
I just ordered the axles, swapped the intermediate shaft over and send the old axles back. I'm guseeing the other guys sent in all three parts first and had Marty clean up the intermediate shaft that they sent.

Steve

Yep. I sent everything and received everything. I dunno if the intermediate shaft is new, but if it isn't it sure doesn't look it. I believe the intermediate shaft bearing was replaced as well.

If it isn't new, it sure doesn't look like it's not new, but I think it's new. ;)It got new paint unless you can tell that it has new bearings and seals. I suspect Marty bead blasted and painted your old one.

I should probably verify with him, but I had the same assumption about the cleaning/painting when I looked at it. However, it's possible he replaced the intermediate bearing due to the price difference between the driver & passenger side axles.

If you are running 500+ HP and want axles with bigger shafts try the Driveshaftshop (http://www.driveshaftshop.com)

As for pricing, call Marty up its free (888) 257-8192 or (800) 257-8192 ;)

If its the same axles you send him, how is it better? I get that he rebuilds them and well, but its the axle itself that is the weak link isn't it? I've seen the actual shaft break more times than the joint.

Not knocking the guy, sounds great, I wish more shops were like that from the sounds of it, but what makes it a better, stronger axle?

Wonder if they do rear axles with upgraded inner hubs.

The Driveshaft Shop makes rear axle bars for a reasonable price, but it is confusing to me when that is not the part of the axle that breaks. I consistantly shatter the inner hub that goes into the rear(yes, I have a 4 bolt). The complete rear axle set with upgraded inner hubs is $1400 and I find that absurd.
I am in the process of negotiating with Mark Williams or Strange to fabricate a set of inner hubs for factory axle bars. It will most likely cost half of what the Driveshaft shop wants for their complete rear axle set.

I too have not seen a 4-bolt (or for that matter a 3-bolt) shaft break and agree that the inner hub shaft looks (no a non-drivetrain specialists eye :o )to be the weakest link (smallest diam). I would think that the aftermarket center shafts would not only be built stronger, but have more elasticity (give) in it to offer additional protection to the other components

I don't know how much power you are making or your suspension setup, but there may be mitigating factors that are contributing to your axle breakages. Are you sure you're rear diff or driveshaft is not suffering from excessive "play" which would cause more of a "shock" to the Axles during power transfers? I've also been told (DSS) that too much slop (worn or soft lowering springs) in the rear suspension can cause the same effect by allowing the car to bottom out on launches.

4SFED4

I have AGX rear shocks set to the stiffest setting. Ground-Control coil-overs lowering the car ~2.75". Lengthened upper control arms to get my desired rear camber. Also I have an A/T there is no drivetrain shock like a 5spd everything is preloaded befroe I launch. I only break axles when I attempt to leave with 25+ psi of boost causing excessive wheel spin, then when the tires grab it shatters the inner hubs.
Last time my car was on a dyno(FWD) it showed 580whp @ 28psi. I am now running a larger compressor and between 35-40 psi of boost. The latter is when a number of my problems started. My goal is to run 9s without nitrous and it has become a difficult process.

Bought a driver's side axle from them. Got here quick, excellent parts.

Called Marty a few times, great guy genuinely willing to help you out.
