Wow, I thought 300$ was expensive at the time, little did i know that it was gonna cost 250$ to make it usable. The machine shop said it looked like some just dropped it on the part that matches up with the block. They also said it looks like the valve job was done on a kitchen table. Wow, I was very unimpressed, but maybe this was a freak thing.Anyways, it still sucks either way for me. :(

yea my bad, I'm still a little distraught. I bought a cylinder head from Clearwater Cylinder Heads off of EBay for a 2.0 DSM motor. I bought the piece for $300.00, claiming to have been rebuilt, well it was rebuilt, just horrible job. The head was unmilled and the seals were all uneven. I think they said something about the guides being fawked. So over all I had to $300.00 some dollars more to get the cylinder head in working order. So all I am saying is for $600.00 I could have saved a few extra hundred and acquired a buschur head that actually has work done to it. Like I said before in my post, it may just be a one time fluke, but I was severely pissed. I hope this should suffice your royal highness. Please let me know if that was alright for you. I'm sure you will. ;) have a GREATTTTTTTTTT day. You are the best ;) :D

Thats strange my friend bought one from them also off ebay and it was sent out right away and was in perfect shape. We never had one issue with it.

Yes, like I said twice, it may just be a fluke thing. I never know what to expect, but damn does it suck.

you might of got a fluke :( i bought 1 for my car and runs perfect, no issues, they stand behind their products with a 12K miles warranty but i'm sure the shipping would not be covered, have you contacted them about the problems with head you have found? what did they say?

I haven't tried to contact them. Just buying the head was enough hassle for me. I truly just don't want to deal with them anymore. Like I said, probably just a fluke. I am not trying to ruin their reputation, just stating my dealings with them.

Your lack of assertiveness in dealing with the problem denies you any right to state anything. Had you contacted them and stated the flaws of the product before you took it to get the work done... this matter may have been resolved. The fact that you didn't end up with a Buschur head is no fault but your own. It is quite possible they could have told you to smoke a dick... but, since you didn't even attempt that's on you.

If i could have been refunded i would have been happier. I got the run around for a few weeks. Then all of a sudden I got a extra 75$ charge. Never got a reason why. My feeling is what if this head wasn't inspected and was put on a car. So oh well, I'd be happier not trying to contact them. I mean when I was gonna pay them, they gave me the run around. What do you think they'd do when i tried to explain to them about a problem? Yea think about that. Everybody here seems to have a chip on thier shoulders.
Also, it is to late for me to get covered on thier "warranty." Also, they need the defective head, which I just had rebuilt because it was 100 miles away. So it wouldn't do any good, but it was my fault. I admit it. End of Story.

I had my head done by them.
It was $200 and that included cleaning it up, installing 1mm over valves and doing a basic 3 angle valve job and milling it.I supplied all parts they did all the labor.
Dropped it off on a tuesday.
Picked it up the next day.
They are a very well know head shop in this area.
This is the first time I have ever heard a bad word about them.

They're a bunch of idiots.
They sell a "Stage xxx" head on ebay, but when asked can't/won't tell you what that means, or what the h/p gains and losses are.

While I agree that they should be able to tell you the difference between stage 1, 2, etc. heads, the HP thing is just crazy.
HP gains will depend on the car. Someone running a 50 trim will certainly see more gains from a high level head than someone running a 14b. Asking a company how much HP you will gain with a head without them having specific knowledge of your car is idiotic. You should know that a heavily ported head w/ oversized valves, etc. will be beneficial on a properly upgraded car. On a car that is not properly modded, a head like that could result in less power. The official HP numbers would be moot because they would only apply to the car that was dyno'd w/ that head.
I'll shoot them an e-mail and find out if I can get some info.

I agree, it's crazy.
But the ebay ad claims a gain of "xx" h/p.
But they wouldn't say where that gain was, what losses there were, or anything about the "test vehicle".
I wouldn't send anyone to them for a "performance" head.

I see.. I didn't know that they were claiming HP on the auctions. That is a crock. I didn't mean to come off as a dick and apologize if I did. :(
Anyhoo, I would be leary of buying anything from a company who would not give specifics on their parts. I mean shit, I could make a head look rebuilt in 30 mins with 2 cans of engine brite and a toothbrush but that doesn't make my garage a machine shop.

The one time i dealt with Clearwater turned out well, ordered a head for my 84 conquest (imagine that a cracked head). Anyways, ordered it, arrived on time in about a week or so i believe. Fully fitted with cam, valve, lifters, etc. Looked good, nice casting and shipped fast and packaged well. Hate to hear your dealings didnt go as well.

i got two new rebuilt heads from them couple years ago and both were great, i even had a valve break off and ruined the head, secretly it was my fault running the car to lean, and they rebuilt it for me for half off, 150, i was very pleased, never had the valve seals go bad either
