I need help, i just went to replace my clutch and the mechanic told me
that the flywheel would need to be replaced as well,
now i am looking for a flywheel, i called the dealership and its for
$310 . I dont have that kinda money to be spending on it. I am looking
for alternatives. I looked around at pepboys , salvo autoparts,
autozone, advance autos, none of them carry it. I tried ebay , no one
on there is selling one either. Where would I need to go to find a
flywheel.

also would a 2.0FWD Turbo flywheel fit my car? I asked the dealership
and they said no, i asked 3 different dealerships, however i saw on
http://4g64.150m.com/index.html that it said a FWD TURBO 7 BOlt would
fit?
thanks

Go look at any aftermarket dealer that lists part #'s beside the applications.
You will see a 95-99 turbo flwheel.
Then look at yours.
Look at a Galants even. (2.4L 4G64 engine)
Look at clutches too while your at it.
All the same. ;)
Your dealership wants your $.
You could get a lightened one for $300.

I've been searching my ass off to find what flywheels will work with a 2nd gen Spyder 4g64. I'm doing a clutch for this kid, and he brought me a new flywheel (looked exactly the same) and a Zoom Stage 2 Clutch to put on. Well, aside from the PITA of pulling the axles and such, I was able to get it all together. I go to start it and the starter just isn't grabbing..I just hear it whizzing in there. Do I have the wrong flywheel? I mean, the starter only goes in one way.

And if it is the wrong flywheel, is there any way a starter from whatever motor the flywheel is supposed to be for will bolt up to this? I can see from beneath the motor (with the shield off) that the starter is engaging, but not far enough to grab the flywheel. What are my options, or will I have to tear this all apart again?

Its an AWD flywheel.

You're fucked.

What should I ask for then? These freakin auto zone people are dumb as hell.

Naw, I got the core back and brought it to my buddy at the machine shop, and he said the small heat stress cracks were normal, and at an acceptable level of wear and I should just run it the way it is. I guess I have another funfilled day of 4g64 clutch crap to do tommorrow..

So yeah mine is doing the same thing his is. The fly wheel is not grabbing. and my core is long gone. So i cant get it back. it was heat spotted beyond belief anyway. my clutch exploded literaly. Now what?

Any 7-bolt flywheel for a FWD turbo car will bolt up just fine - as will any of the clutch kits out there.

the one that both autozone and Checkers have is the wrong one. The starter doesnt line up cause the diamiter of the flywheel is about an inch smaller then it needs to be. unless I can find a starter that has a gear twice the size of the OEM one.

Why not get an aftermarket one?

Cause i dont know what one fits. if the one that is "for mine" doesnt fit what do i get?

Like I said... Any 2G 95-99 FWD Turbo Eclipse flywheel will work. I have a Fidanza lightweight flywheel on my Spyder personally.

At least the aftermarket guys know the difference between 1g, 2g, FWD, and AWD. The guys at autozone and Checker Auto are probably morons.
