I took the emmisions control system off of my 96 eclipse RS (2.0 non turbo) I'm talking about the big black box of charcoal that keeps raw gasoline fumes from entering the atmosphere and the little pump that forces the fumes into your intake when you start your car, not the EGR system. My check engine light is now on and I want to know maybe if I can put a resistor in the harness for the air pump to make it think the pump is still there. Please help.

Could work but the better question is why did you remove it to begin with? Is your car that heavily modded to where you need to remove a system that does not harm your car's performance? You may have saved 5 pounds without it but that could be accomplished a number of other ways without causing you to fail an emissions test. Oh well, just my opinion that you should only remove items such as this in the event of all out track only racing. I often wonder the same thing of "tuners" I've seen who remove thier PVC system to "gain" performance. Do you know that by plugging the lines to the charcoal canister, you could inadvertantley be pushing the gas vapors through the fuel cap and ultimately onto your paint? Do you also know that the charcoal canister serves to fill the vacuum created by using fuel? It does more than just recycle unburned fuel vapors to your intake to help keep the environment cleaner. Remember, alot of research goes into factory parts and systems. You're not really doing yourself or your car a favor to completely eliminate a functional system.

Some insider information... Though that was a quite informative...
Did you know that we are the one of the few countries that even have evap canisters?
And yes, the "one way" valve in line with the canister allows pressure from the tank to escape. It however is a ONE WAY valve. It does not allow air back in to replace the missing fuel.
And I'd love to know how much research went into the development of an EGR valve... they must have fell asleep. Let's see, I'm going to put this hicky doo on this engine that blows exhaust gas into the clean intake tract of this car. Have you seen what this does to valve seats?
Not to mention PCV valves suck ass loads of blow by OIL as well as gasses into your intake. That my dear friend, can suck my dick. I burn enough already. This is why "oil catch cans" are made and sold every day.
Sorry buddy, I DO NOT agree. :D
