So I was already to turbo My car than got into a lil discussion with a mechanic who knows DSMs like the back of his hand. No matter what i do my car will NOT pass ODB11 emissions. I LOVE New York state. So I was thinking of sparying, has anyone blown their car up doing this so they can tell me what not to do? I want to know how much my 5spd stock tranny can handle, if I should upgrade my fuel pump and injectors what mods i should do to be safer. Do I want to run wet or dry? Best kit? Now Im not talking about running a 100 shot, just something small and only when I REALLY NEED it.

Why wont it pass ODBII inspection? If you arent throwing a check engine light, it will pass. Keep a cat on the car, it will pass...

Don't waste time with nitrous oxide. You can turbo the car without problems other than cost.

Good luck.

When does ANYONE actually NEED nitrous?

explain to me how the car won't throw codes?!?! Don't you need a ECU outta a turbo car? The ECU is going to be looking for the 2nd cam which wont be there. Its gonna throw codes. I am not sure how much money I want to invest into this car, I have cool things to pay for like ummmm school!!

SO is there ANYONE that can answer my question about nitrous???

You can get away with about a 75 shot or so. You can get a fogger, which will be the least expensive and that is what most ricers use. Or, you can get a injection setup. Mixes the nitrous directly in with the fuel. You stock ECU will be fine for the fogger, but I am not sure how well it will deal with the injection kit.

Go with a fogger. Hell, any monkey with a screwdriver and a razor blade can install one.

Good luck!

Lis, remember you don't have to swap to a DOHC head to turbo a 4G64. I would say its benificial, but not necessary. As far as nitrous I've put simple dry setups on many rice, I mean race cars...
And you'll be ok with a 50 shot probably on your stock stuff. Now a pump is insurance. And will also be a necessity if you slap a turbo on that sum bitch. So I would say go on Ebay and find a Wal 255lph pump for $90 that I see EVERY day on there...
I put a 75 shot on an Alero... An automatic alero... with silver flames...
And we didn't do a single thing to the car but get colder plugs. (Well I did install a shut off switch that was fuel pressure dependant. That way if his fuel pressure dropped it would cut the shit off.) He put a couple bottles thru it and got tired of it. I hate nitrous. Its really gay. :D
I'd much rather be finding you parts for your turbo setup. ;)
(If you DO install nitrous... MAKE SURE YOU GET COLDER PLUGS!) And don't let them tell you it'll cost $500+ to install it. I could do it in an hour and a half including the vent tube, and lines thru your car, everything... Anything more than $100 is a rip off. If they disagree bring it to me and I'll do it FOR you. :D And show you how to do ALL of it, so you'll know.
Think about it! :D
