ok, i blew another transfercase within 100 miles on installing it. it was more or less a 23 spline t-case modified to fit a 22 splint tranny. my guess... is that's why it blew up. :D

i'm not allowed to post in the parts for sale/wanted section asking if anyone has one, so, i'll post it here.

where can i find a 22 spline t-case?

And check out the gooogle ads at the bottom. They have a page crawler that picks out the most common word or phrase in this thread and does a search of advertisers using those keywords.

Which cars had 22 spline and 23 spline transfer cases?

Which cars had 22 spline and 23 spline transfer cases?

DSM transmissions come in two types with different output shafts. 1990 and some 1991 cars have 22-spline output shafts. Later 1991 through 1994 cars have 23-spline output shafts. Please note that 1991 cars that are 'later' (i.e. have later production or serial numbers) may still have the 22-spline shaft. The best way to check is to look, or to check part numbers with a dealership.

There you go :)

thanks. my 92 i think had a tranny swap, and it happened to be from a 90-91 car. oh well

figured out what happened. somehow, the drain bolt shot off, (threads not stripped at ALL  ) and all the fluid just leaked out. the t-case itself is still fine. i installed a "new" one anyway, just in case.

thanks for the replies :)
