5th pops out and now won't go back in!

Hey guys l8ly my 5th gear has been popping out of gear and just today it popped out twice and now won't go back in gear. I'm thinking its the sychros am I right?

Go read through the VFAQ site. Lots of good information there including how to fix the generic version of that problem.

I had the same problem. There are several scenarios in which 5th gear pops out:

1.) The shift fork for the fifth gear is broken
2.)There is a large nut (36 mm) that holds the hub and sleeve unit for the 5th gear. The problem is that the nut is loose and the hub and sleeve unit had moved slightly away from the gear.
3.) The teeth on the sleeve of the sleeve and hub unit is worn away so that it can't slide on the gear anymore.
