Just curious if anyone knows which stock rims are light and strong enough to put a set of slicks on. I would prefer 16" rims. They don't have to be off a DSM. Any make is ok. I'm thinking of getting some slicks but don't wanna spend lot of money on the rims. I was told i could put them on my stockers (ugly mesh from Laser), but these wheels are too heavy. Close to 35 lbs i think?? Any help would be appreciated.

depends on ho much you want ot spend.
300zx wheels would be the most affordable route.
Volks, SSR, Kosei K1's....etc

Forcefed,
I did notice someone at the Drag Wars at Great Lakes Dragaway this Sunday had a set of 300ZX rims on their DSM. Wouldn't have been you would it? i see you are from the Chicago/Cleveland? area. Any idea as to how much these rims weigh apiece and where on earth would i find a pair???

If you have trouble finding 300zx wheels, and decide to go the new wheel route, go with the Kosei K1s. They are pretty darn cheap for only weighing 16.5lbs for a 16"x7" wheel. SSR and Volk are lighter, but a LOT more $$$. You might want to try to find some RX-7 wheels, they are darn light for factory wheels and they fit.

No I didn't make it there. I was in Chicago this weekend but was driving a Late Model up at Lake Geneva Raceway. Besides my talon is currently under construction. I would look around on the 300z boards and see if they can help you locate something. Only problem with the k1's is the Tire Rack want s to give you a ****e dup offset and the tire wheel hanfg beneath the wheel well lip. I was going to buy a pair about a month ago but due to this I'll hold off for some volks or ssr's. I have a friend who has mad wheel hook-ups I gave him your e-mail address and he might e-mail ya if he has anything for you.

I was gonna say Kosei K1's too. But now that ForceFed mentioned it; I do remember the Tire Rack trying to push some offset that I knew I didn't want, on me also. I'm not a fan of the go-kart look, plus I love my wheel bearings!

If not Tire Rack, what about Discount Tire or some other tire place? There's tons of ads in the import mags. Any of them reliable?? I'm currently talking to someone about some 300ZX rims but would like to get a full set of decent looking rims for every day driving. They don't have to be the lightest though
