Well, I FINALLY broke it. After 50K+ miles (I got it with 60K+) a few collisions, a rewire, oil starvation... and general beating the piss out of it. (The collisions were NOT me driving... more like it parked and hit. FYI)
I've really beat the living F!ing monkey piss out of this car/engine... and I never would have thought ANY car could take it like this. I'm impressed :P
Its finally starting to knock! :D
Still goes a 100+ drives no problem.... (And sees such speeds regularly... and WOT almost constantly...)
Back fires thru the intake manifold when its cold and you step on the gas...
Burns a quart every other day...
smokes... drinks its own coolant bottle every 3 days...
And starts with the flick of a key.
UN-F!ing-Real...
Luckily I'm almost done with one of my 4G63T engines, and should be able to toss it in pretty soon.
I just wanted to see if any of you knew what these engines could take.
Talk about a seriously tough engine. Its been burning oil for 2+ years!
Slipped a timing belt once and didn't break anything...
I've completely buried the speedo (140) and checked the next day and only had a dixie cup worth of oil left in it.
So to any of you who have ever had ANY doubts about the reliability of a 4G64 engine... I can assure you, its a tough nut to crack. It still runs fine even knocking... :P (Idles at 800-900rpm)
Did I mention I think I changed the oil twice in the last year since it burns so much I just pour more in?
Figured you guys/girls might get a laugh. I have an extra stock 4G64 too... so its no big deal. I'm aware of such habits being detrimental to the lifespan of said vehicle/engine. Thats why I have spares! :D

I had an Escort like that once. We ended up donating it after I couldnt kill it. I did get one last night of fun with it though in the snow. Had it on 2 wheels a few times. Now I have a 200,000mi Festiva to play with. Its even more fun. No tach.. just shift when you hit the rev limiter. Gotta love beaters.
