I put in a trany and now its leaking at the trany and t-case right under the drivers axle. I changed the t-case, and no change. There is also a nasty bang niose when the engine revs down in gear (2nd when you get off of the throtle). On a second gen are the axle seals push in or do you need to rip every thing out?

The axle seals are external, you don't have to pull the trans, just drain the fluid first.

i hope i don't have to remove the tranny. my leak is the oils seal that is inside the transmision. It seals the rear wheel drive shaft the one the transfer gets it's power from. OddRob is it possible for me to change my leaking seal without removing the tranny even though its hard to get to?

The output shaft seal can be done without pulling the trans, although its not easy. I welded a screw to a small shaft to get it out, then a piece of pipe to put it back in.

back from the dead yes

im having problems with the driver side cv shaft seal.

Previous tranny=91
New tranny=90

After installing my tranny i bumped the driver side cv shaft seal and ripped it or something, so i took it out and bought a new one for it. It wont go in. It seems as if the seal is to big or something I dont know. Anyways it looked as if the 90 seal was smaller in diameter compared to the 91. I went to an auto parts store and compared the parts # but they were the same. What to do?

If you've double-checked the part numbers and they're correct then you most likely have the right one. It's just a matter of installing it. They're supposed to be pretty snug so they don't leak. You could always measure where the seal goes with a caliper and then measure the seal diameter just to triple-check.

I put some mobil1 chassis grease around the axles, seemed to slow it down a little. Be sure the transmission isn't overfilled too.

The original seal off the 90 had a copper seal against the tranny, and the new seal and the seal on the 91 are rubber. basically i put the original copper seal back on and rtv'd the new one on top of it. There is no leak no but 2 seals wooo :) it works I don't care.
