What is the best setup for a 1G AWD? I need help determining the use of sway bars, strut bars and how much of a drop. Thanks to all who respond.

Danny,
90 GSX (stock suspension)

You should check out Road Race' website.

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclsuspension.htm)

The factory front sway bar is damn good stock. Unless your professionally autoxing you won't need to replace it for a while.

The Rear sway bar however is greatly undersized and contributes a large amount of body roll.

If you are more interested in looks then worry about how much to lower. Otherwise worry about spring rate and what shocks pair best with your springs.

A good start for springs are Eibach Pro (http://www.machv.com/eibproksprin.html) and if you get them now their on sale for $200. If you want even lower the Eibach Sportlines are a possibility but the ride is crap even with good shocks.

The KYB AGX are great shocks if you have $500. (http://www.machv.com/kybagxadshoc.html) The Tokico Illumina's are about $100 more on average but the performance isn't any better.

As for Upper strut bars I prefer to go with a solid costruction bar not a 3 piece(left and right tower mount and center bar). Seems to just feel stiffer. Check out the DSM sites and see what fits your budget. Strut tower bars all do the same thing, stiffen the chassis so its not a big deal which one you go with.

best? Custom, or some penske suspension setup.

There, now go look up prices and im willing to bet your not looking for the best. Your looking for the best within $X. What are you doing with the car? Dailky driver? full course road racing?

I revived it for 2 reasons: 1)I see this question asked over and over from people who don't read magazines and don't check out places like Buschur and Road Race, etc.; 2)To show how old this question is and get the true noobs to look back to find answers to questions already asked.

I know this thread is 8 Years old ;)
