is it normal for the clutch to engage at like 1 in off the ground i have a stage 1 clutch by the way

Thats a very general question, If its adjusted correctly, and its a new clutch, it will engage low.

It's fine so long as you have adequate freeplay in the pedal...which on most cars is around 1"

New clutches will engage a lot lower than a beat up one, but the free movement is what you should check to be sure you're fully disengaging. There are some other things you should look into...

Just curious here, I plan to play with my master cylinder rod tommorrow as I recently replaced it, but what I want to know is where is the proper adjustment point for it. What I mean is, from the above listed website it says if you are grinding upon entering gears often, to thread the rod so that it goes towards the firewall, but where is the limiting factor. Could I potentially go too far, and if so what kind of potential damage am I looking at? I'm not afraid in the least to adjust it, I just want to know what specs to aim for, and basically any other issues that could arise from an ill-adjusted rod.
