well if your clutch was slipping you would notice whgen u start off in 1st gear and such... ans it would be a little hard to shift

um???? no it wouldnt and no it woulndt, clutches slip more in higher gears when there is more load on the drivetrain but the motor is putting the same amount of power down. a slipping clutch and a destoryed clutch are not the same thing.

My TSi did the same thing. Normal driving would be fine, but WOT was a joke, anything past half throttle was the same accelleration. I got the car bone stock, and it had been like that since then. The more I modded it, the more noticeable it became until it was unbearable. At then end, it would slip anywhere over 2k, and even a hard pull out into traffic (I won't even call it a "launch") it would just rev up and lurch slowly and leave a big plume of clutch reek. On the highway, I could barely pass someone even shifting into fourth.
My problem was that whoever the dumbass was who had the car before me decided that it would be a grand idea to put a cheapie clutch disc in without a new pressuren plate, tob, or resurfacing the flywheel. When we took the clutch out, the disc was practically brand new, but the tob was missing pieces and scraped when it was turned. The pressure plate had uneven divets and gouges in the fingers from it, and the back side was wavy and spotted. The flywheel was so warped that not only was it wavy and spotted as well, but parts of the friction surface were worn below the casting at various angles.
Get yourself a new clutch kit (disc, pressure plate, and oem tob) and you might as well get a flywheel while you're at it, because if you're having the same issues I did, you probably need it. I got the Fidanza, it's great, none of the dd issues that some people have.

i am having the same problem with my clutch slipping the car goes up to like 3000 rpms then just kinda revs and does'nt go any where. i am getting my clutch replaced shortly i was thinking about just putting in a oem clutch but was also wondering if any one had suggestions about after market parts and could give me some advice etc on how they will effect my car compared to just getting a stocky clutch

I have the same problem, but not quite as extensive. The first day I had my car I "attempted" to launch it and all I saw was 6 grand and didn't move. It slips sometimes when I pin it in first, but not all the time. ACT 2100 should be here Monday and go in sometime next week.

After installing the downpipe my car started what i think i slipping, at first in 3rd or 4th on WOT it would hit like 4500 and drop like 200 rpm and then it would go, then yesterday i was driving and i shifted into 4th while WOT and the RPMS shot up to like 7k, i had to quiickly press down the clutch so it would drop. Then after that it just got worst anytime in 3rd or 4th WOT at about 4k rpm the RPMS just go and the car doesnt, i have to let off gas and then push on it again for it to catch, is this a sure sign of a slipping clutch? I smell nothing...

Pull over immediately after you smoke the clutch and pop the hood. It will smell like burnt brakes. It's time for a clutch.
