I'm looking to lower my 1G eclipse. I'd prefer to use coilovers but all i can find are the ground control and the dss. They both cost around $400 (unless somone can find them cheaper) and I was hoping to lower my car for a bit less than that. If anyone knows any other coilovers that would fit this car please tell me. If you dont please tell me what springs would give me the lowest drop for my car. thank you.

i dont noe of anyother coilovers for the 1st gen other than wut you named...i have eibach sportlines and it slammed the car quite a bit i have stock tsi 16 with 50 series tires and have half inch or so fender gap, you will need a camber kit from ingalls for the rear..without it the camber is all fucced up. but this goes for droping any car. i still have stock shocks..but the handling is improved a lot from stock..no lean at all in corners.

How low do you want to go?
The sport line springs are just for lowering the car. The reason that they have no lean in cornering is because they have no suspension travel. The car rides on the bumpstops when going around a corner so it can't lean. (ever notice when you hit a bump in a corner the car bounces voiolently?)
That is the bump stop. :-)
If you do want to go that low then WR just came out with a CO kit for the 1G that lowers it 1-3.5" $375. It has a dual spring set up so the ride is suposed to be ok, but I haven't tried any so I can give you any opinions.
If you are looking to make the car handle better then you should get the DSS CO kit. It isn't designed to lower the car much, about 1-1.5" or so, but it handles great. I've wone a prosolo with the kit. Try that with anyone elses CO kit!! (becides shocktech) Good stuff also, but expensive.

Mike, what's the advantages of the DSS CO vs the Ground Control? I assume you both use the same stock shocks (AGX, Koni, GAB, etc)?
