View Full Version : Bulging Tires

I needed new tires for my 90AWD, so I fgured it's about time I changed my bent stock rims at the same time and get a wider tire. I was going to get the ROH Snypers in the GP from Bill Marino, but job problems told me I can't afford to spend too much on this. So, I got a set of used Borbet type C rims 16*7.5 (thanks Ted) and ordered some Bridgetone Potenza RE71 225-50 ZR tires. I just got everything installed.
Rims look good, tires drive good, but the front tires buldge outside of the front fenders just a bit. It is hardly noticeable, and I don't mind it, but I am a bit concerned whether the tires will rub the fenders under hard driving. I have eibach springs, but there seems to be a couple of inches of clearance.

So, anyone out there with a similar set up have any problems with tires rubbing the fenders under hard driving?

Thanks,
- Nick 90 AWD

you shouldnt have any problems. I have 17's with 215's and a 2" drop, and have no problems at all.

I haven't had any problems yet out of mine. 17x8" wheels with 235/45 Nitt 555's. The fronts stick out about 1/2" and the rears fit inside the wheel well nicely. I have GC coil overs with about a 1.5" drop and haven't had any rubbing problems. Of course I do have spring rates of 500/400 front/rear so I don't bottom out much :D

The wheels curve inward when they travel upward so you wont have any probs if the car is lowered. I'm running 235/35ZR19 and don't have any rubs with 1.3 drop
