I just bought a used HKS TT. I dont know what type it is but it looks exactly like the one on this page (atleast from the front)
http://ca.dsm.org/FAQ/2gtt-faq.html
So is it a Type IV or do they all look like that? Mine has 6 wires comin out the end of it.
I need to hook this thing up and I was just gonna buy a harness but the guy at T1 Motorsports said that I couldnt because it was missin the piece that plugs into the harness(the TT just has 6 loose wires hangin off it).
So it looks like I'm gonna have to hard wire it but I havent been able to find any procedures on doin it. Can anyone help with hard wiring it or tell me how to get the little plug that goes on the end of the timer.

Thanx guys,

Mario (stock for now 95 Eclipse GST)

all you have to do is cut the wires on the harness and connect it to the turbo timer and plug everything in.should work perfect.

Oh, coo I didnt know I could do that. So the harness itself has wires that I could cut to match up with the ones on the TT?
Also, b4 I buy a harness. Is there anyway I can tell if this unit even works? I just want to make sure that this guy didnt sell me a piece of junk b4 I spend for the harness.

well the only way to find out is by hooking it up to the proper wires.(meaning you splice the ignition and power wires but then you wouldn't need the harness anymore.just get the harness and if the timer doesn't work just connect the wires back on the harness and return it and tell them you got the wrong harness or sell it to someone in need of one.or just get a workin timer.

Some asshole hit my car last night so now I need to buy a hood and a headlight. So I'm really strapped for cash right now and I dont want to shell out the money for a harness even if it is like 30 bucks. Can u tell me how to wire the TT directly to the car's ignition or know of a website where instructions are given. I've been searchin everywhere. I have a 95 GST.

Ah man that sucks. sorry to hear about that. Is the person gunna pay or was it a hit and run?

turbo timer for 2g . do you have a red, green ,blue, gray, black, and brown wire?if so

first of all remove your negative cable from the car's battery

Red goes to a constant 12V wire
Green splices into the ignition wire(12V)
Blue goes to a 12V accessory wire. for example cigarette light, radio..etc
gray goes to the parking brake wire
brown is to the rpm signal located on the ecu harness.
and finally black to a really good chassis ground.
connect your battery again and test to see if it turns on.

here is a link for the wires on your car:
http://se.dsm.org/gen2wir.html

sorry I had to do this in a hurry let me know if you have an questions I'll get back later.Good luck.

The jerk gave me false information so now its up to the police to find him. Hope they do cause otherwise my car doesnt get fixed (I knew I should of shelled out the extra cash for full coverage).

I have all those wires except instead of a brown one mine is yellow. Is that a problem?

Thanx

Mario

If you have all of the wires except for the brown and have a yellow instead try the yellow one out in place of the brown and see what happens.

Well all those wires would work on my 1g, so as far as I know all the wires would be the same.. since the TT doesn't change :)

I feel for your pain, some dumbass hit and run my car overnight when it was parked... thankfully it only took out the bumper and side marker... and not the metal in my car. Still over $1K in repairs... I am fighting my insurance company for the money, but of course they devalue everything and their first quote is $150 to me... geez...what a waste of my time... but at least it's $150 more, we'll see.. I'm fighting it all the way!!

I like to read(only things that interest me)a lot.I get enough information to know what I'm doing then I experience things hands on.If a problem arises I go straight back to reading(internet makes everything less of a hassle). It's good to have the auto manual as well and most importantly the right tools. But for the Turbo timer installation I can do it less than 1/2 an hour now that I experienced a good amount of it.but another thing never rush your job.that is when all the explosions, electricutions, and unlimited swearing start.

Phat 95 gst: I am exactly on the same page!!! I had just received my used turbo timer from Japan, and this thing looks like it was made in the 80's. I have no instructions, it has a harness, but I don't know which car it came out of. And as far as the alarm goes, I have no idea how to plug this thing on it. Did you ever get it installed? Can someone out there give me some more info?

It's the same one one that web shortcut you posted.

Oh, ok. The wire colors that Thermal92TSI posted were right.
I just had to substitute brown for yellow.
A word of caution, the turbo timer that I bought worked just fine for a week. Then it shorted internally and wouldnt turn off the car after the timer counted down.
It really sucks when you come home from school, park your car, then come out like 3 hours later and the car is still idling.
From now on, I am buying my electronic things new.

Search around on the net, the wiring diagram for an 2G DSM is posted somewhere. Otherwise get a DSM manual CD or ask someone that has one to tell you the wire colors.
I installed this long ago, so I dont have the wiring diagrams on hand. I'll try to find them for you but I think it is a long shot cause it could be anywhere. You are probably better off looking for it yourself.
