I've had my VDO boost gauge for almost 2 years now, so I figured I'd let ya'll know what I thought about it.

First, this gauge is one of the cheaper ones on the market, price-wise. I think for gauge and install kit, I paid $50 total from Extreme. Also, the gauge is almost an exact match for the 1G stock gauges (speedo, tach, etc), right down to the font used on the VDO.

I had the gauge tapped at the TB on my Eclipse, but on the Talon it's now tapped at the fuel presssure vacuum line. I've been meaning to move it over to the TB, but just haven't.

This is an easy-to-read boost gauge, easy on the eyes. Apparently it's available with an orange bulb condom to match the dash lights, but my install kit from Extreme didn't include it. Without, the gauge numerals has a greenish-white glow around the orange needle.

As far as quality of workmanship goes, I have not been impressed. VDO is a well-respected name of gauges, but my gauge had some issues. Over time the gauge has lost it's zero a little, it reads *slightly* below the 0 on the gauge. Also, the black bezel around the face has started to peel off it's black finish, exposing a gold-colored metal - this looks bad, and I've heard of others VDO's doing this too. Also, with the line fittings on the back of the gauge, it doesn't completely fit into the Lo-Tek double pod I've got, sticking out ~ 1/16". In order to get it completely in, you'd have to twist the gauge sideways a little. But I blame the pod more for this than the VDO.

Overall, I've been pretty pleased with it, but probably wouldn't buy it again, mostly due to the peeling bezel issue.

I had the same gauge. I didn't have it long enough for the paint to come off the bezel, but it did read one notch below 0 the day after I installed it. The main issue I had with it was that it rattled like crazy when coming off the throttle slowly. As the gauge slowly drifted from boost to vacuum, it had this dull metallic ringing. Sort of like the sound a small electric bell would make if you held your hand on it while it was on. I recently got a new car and decided to go the Autometer route this time. I have the 30-0-20 'Z-Series' gauge (black face and bezel). After a week, it still reads 0 with the engine off...and better yet, no rattling. :)
