I just had an ACT 2600 clutch installed on Saturday. My mechanic (Prospeed) got it for me for $400.

This thing is great. I've read a lot of posts where people complained that it's too hard to push in. Frankly, I don't understand the hubbub. It's just a little stiffer than stock to push in. My wife did not have a problem with it either.

The big difference is that grabs so much sooner. Very little travel and you are locked up. There is not much slipping with this clutch. That's probably the hardest thing to get used to, but, two days later I'm a pro. I can't wait to finish breaking it in and go to the track. You definitley feel more in control of your power.

I was originally planning on buying the Centerforce Dual Friction, but, I tested CustomLeatherGuy's 2600 on Friday and didn't find it so hard. If you need a clutch, I hightly suggest the 2600. If you are unsure test another DSMers car who has one.

im just another thoroughly satisified act 2600 customer.. did the install myself (with out a manual.. shame on me) it does grab very quickly and on my fwd is unforgiving, but after getting used to it (almost 3000miles) it is simply awesome.

I recently got an ACT 2600 installed in my 90 AWD. Awesome clutch. Grabs like there's no tomorrow. Initially I was thinking of getting the 2100 but everyone told me it's a waste for an AWD that's not stock.
Surprisingly, pedal feel is almost stock.

I've heard that the heavier the Pressure Plate, the more 2G's are prone to crankwalk....is that true or bs?

we really shouldnt be asking questions in the parts review.. move this question over to general tech.. thanks :)

I just had an ACT 2600 Clutch installed in my '92 Laser Turbo AWD last week. Once the clutch went in, it became painfully obvious the my master cylinder was leaking bad! I could not disengage the clutch due to the increase in hydraulic pressure and the master cylinder's inability to hold that pressure. After replacing the master cylinder and installing the new clutch, the car has a new feel. The supposed increased stiffness of the pedal is sevearly over-rated. I have no problems pressing the pedal to the floor. Grated it is a little stiffer but not like the horror stories Centerforce owners complain about. I still have a while to to break in the disc before I can really lay on it but I can already feel a great improvement in acceleration from idle to 3500 rpm's under no boost. The combined slippage of the leaking master cylinder and slipping stock clutch gave the car a sluggish feeling under acceleration. I even mistook this as pulled timing and misfiring. There is no chatter and I don't stall if the rpm's are low while engaging the clutch. I don't have a lightened flywheel so this may be issues that concerns the heavier pressure plate spring on a lighter flywheel. Currently, the clutch does grab very quick (seeing that is is brand new) but you learn how to slip it in no time.

I was aprehensive at first installing the 2600 after reading all the pros and cons aftermarket clurch owners had. But now the car is more sure of itself and in my opinion this is the clutch that should have come with the car from the factory.

I LOVE my 2600. It grabs, and just keeps grapping! It rocks! I would recommend anyone to get it also...

my ACT2600 is great also..had quite a bit of install problems but once those were taken care of it feels really nice. you will notice that at first it grabs real low to the floor but once you break it in it engages higher. cant wait to test it at the track (some other non related problems have been holding me back)

Remember ACT full face street discs don't need a ton of break in time. I've always given it 100 easy miles, then launched like hell.

Look in parts talk for threads about centerforce clutchs. I posted the release pressures of various aftermarket pressure plates.

Ive had 2 act2600 clutches in my car.
around 5k on my first one, which was used I got a great deal on it from a friend who wrecked his 1g. It was a problem since I got it put in. Eventually it died and I picked up a brand new one from road race. I used a stock disk with it this time, saved myself 50$. I only have launched it once in 1600 miles(i just dont drive hard) I love the clutch and I swear the 1-2 shift is unforgiving!!!!
Excpect to get a new master/slave and put new tranny fluid, center diff and rear diff fluid but you will love it once you get the kinks out!
