I live about forty minutes away, and have to work the first night, but I am going to show the second day and see what this stuff is all about. I've only had my car about two months, and this will be my first meet. Im excited to meet some people around her interested in the car, cause in my town, I don't think its that big of a deal. I live in more of a loud truck and big tires town if you know what I mean. Any idea what time would be good to come up on that second day when everything is starting??? thanks guys

Excellent! I see somebody has already posted about the DSM/Tail of the Dragon meet. I went last year with 7 other LS1 powered cars. It was a blast! We all stayed at Historic Fontana Village, which is close to Rt. 129.

The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, with 318 curves in 11 miles, is America ’s number one motorcycle and sports car road.

Crossing Deals Gap at the Tennessee/North Carolina state line, the Tail of the Dragon is considered by many as one of the world's best motorcycling and sports car roads. Anyone looking for an exciting highway adventure will enjoy the Tail of the Dragon stretch of US 129.

Riders and drivers from all over the USA and many foreign countries come to enjoy our many mountain roads. The Tail of the Dragon is usually the biggest attraction for thill seekers. The eleven miles features 318 curves none of which are the same. There are no buildings or driveways along the roadside, just the Great Smoky Mountain National Forest on the north side and a large forested area owned by Alcoa Aluminum on the south side.

The Dragon begins on the North Carolina side at Fugitive Bridge with a view of the Cheoah Dam where Harrison Ford jumped in the movie The Fugitive. It ends 14 miles across the mountain at the Tabcat Creek Bridge in Tennessee.
US 129 climbs through The Slide, a steep series of "S" curves. The road then levels and straightens until a series of curves approaching Deals Gap and the Tennessee State Line. We'll leave the next eleven miles and 318 curves for you to describe after you ride it. Many just remember curve after curve after curve and surviving the run of their lives.

I will also be heading down with Griffsfr to hit up the dragon. Where are you planning on staying Camaro SCG? I believe we'll be at the Ironhorse campgrounds right off of Highway 28. This should be a good trip!

Oh, I won't be going on this trip. I'd kind of stand out with my '02 SS Camaro (picture in profile). I will be going again this year with the same group of Fbodys and GTO's. It's worth the trip down (about 16 hr drive from here) if you haven't gone before. 2-way radios are great to have. We went the weekend before the season started, so there wasn't many cops around. The road is incredible! Just don't drive above your skill level and it helps to follow someone who knows the road.
I bought my daughter (she's paying for some of it) the '98 GS-T as her first car and I need to learn more about mods, tuning, etc. It's amazing how much hp some of the cars on here are putting down! A lot of people on here have a lot of knowledge, not like some of the ricers who just put stickers and a fart can on. By the same token, most Camaro drivers don't have a mullet hair cut, are a redneck, and drive a beat up 3rd gen Camaro. :D

That's quite a drive, but from what I've read/seen so far it seems like it's worth it.

That's deffinetly not a bad thing . It's always nice to have a diverse group. Is there anything you recommend seeing/doing, places to eat, etc. while were down there?
