Hey guy and gals i just thought it would be time to start setting up a 2006 iowa meet what do u guys think. where we could sell some old parts help another out give tiops and tricks.

Im from Iowa quite aways from you though. Im in Cedar Rapids, theres quite a few DSMers around here. Crunderground.com is a local site, you could try to recruit people off there for a meet.

i was sorta thinking about the drag strip here. We also have an awesome spot by the river front huge parking lot where we would get to gether watch the honduhs drive by and laugh then go for a cruize as one big group

Thanks for serving over there. I did 27 months there during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. One of the benefits was there wasn't much to spend money on so when I got back in 1991 I bought a Talon TsiAWD new. I still have her :)
Now that I'm 38, it is hard to drop everything and just go (kids etc.)

PS It would be easier for you to drive anywhere in Louisiana. You just get your wife/sister to go with you :D touché

knewblewkorvett, not many people know much about desert storm but i would like to thank you for going over there for us man i know alot about it becuz my father was in the navy and for some reason i thought i was a hard ass and joined the marines. i served 9 months in karkuk (dont know if i spelled it right and really dont care) but i got injured and now im back home where i really belong to get my family going and go back to what i love and thats CARS .

I doubt you'd get guys from the east part of the state to drive all the way out there. Its a long and very boring drive. I'd be interested, but it depends on what my summer class schedule is like.

the drive across really isnt that long and u can haul ass if u take hwy 20 VERY little cops i just found out also that there is a mopar carshow the first weekend in june i think it would be sick to ruin it like 30 or so dsm's driving by lol something is bound to happen.

I'm going to have to agree that Sioux City, while not that far away, is a bit too far to go for a meet when you're coming from Cedar Rapids/Eastern Iowa. Doing two seperate get togethers may be the only way to get everyone included, although Des Moines would be a good spot to meet half way.

I'd say about the best place for it would be Des Moines. It's right smack dab in the center of things so there shouldn't be too many complaints on anyones drive. After that maybe a cruise to CFR or something could happen. That'd be pretty baller.

Well cool, I drive a Blue(ish starting to fade a bit) 1G. Damn paint. Chances are if you drive a DSM in Ames, I've seen you around, but there's quite a few these days.

I would say that our best bet would be to hold a meet in Cedar Falls. We could meet somewhere, maybe grab a bite to eat, cruise for a bit, then head to the dragstrip for the remainder of the night for a test and tune. I'm guessing a lot of people are going to start getting out of College in 2-3 weeks, so sometime around then would be great. I'll help as much as possible, but we'll need several people to get this going!

Edit: Des Moines would work too, most of the races down there are around 1:00a.m., but all street racing. I could talk with some of the Dragsource people, and see if they are interested.

I'm good either way, again, as long as it's sometime in early/mid June. It wouldn't be much fun to get together without my car. If anyone has any feelings on any of the issues one way or another, speak up. Otherwise we can try and nail down a date/place.

Yeah, Ryan is in North Liberty.. couldn't think of the name at the time. He had just moved down there when I was going to school and wanted to test fit an FPR on my GST. That's the last I've heard from him actually. I know that there is another meet going on in June up in Sioux City, but I think the general concensus from the people over on this side of the state is that we're lazy and it's a long way to drive :). I can't speak for everyone, but that's the way I feel right now.

If there are good turnouts for both get-togethers, maybe we can try and arrange an all Iowan meet for the end of the summer in Des Moines.

iowaboostin, keep us posted on what you get set up. Everyone else that has a desire to meet up, speak up with what will or won't work for you.

This is at the Cedar Falls dragway. I am planning on being there with a few of my DSM buddies, unfortunately my 1G won't be showing this time, due to not being tuned.
