xplicit93awd 09-05-2006, 12:56 PM I think the main thing I like about your car is the flat black roof gives me a new idea to fix my roof since its fading anyway. Also the car looks great engine bay is clean and fmic is nice rims go good alround clean car. Great work!!!!
dna59 09-06-2006, 05:48 AM Very nice, I'm loving it.

White91GSX 09-06-2006, 07:48 AM I'm not feelin the calipers.
you can see the calipers?
gSx-LeX 09-06-2006, 01:46 PM I must say, initially i clicked on this thread with the intent of flaming you for having a yellow dsm, but after seeing the pics, I am VERY impressed. She definately looks good! Congrats.
evo3gsx 09-06-2006, 03:01 PM you can see the calipers?
X2
Sleeper7 09-06-2006, 03:17 PM First pic pimpin'
They are purple. And i think they would look out of place if you didn't know the colors in the engine bay. And plus, just too many colors. Lovin' the flat black though
EASTcoastGST 06-21-2007, 07:07 PM You 1g guys are harsh! haha I like it alot, the BOV idea would be niiice.
RE's 97 gs-t 06-21-2007, 07:10 PM First pic pimpin'

They look red on my computer.
rpc91GSX 06-21-2007, 07:18 PM They look red on my computer.
Same for me.
Very nice car. I like the color too, defintely(sp?) makes it unique. Very nice job!
dsmskyline 06-21-2007, 07:19 PM I see red calipers. Ive wondered what a clean yellow 1g would look like. Very nice. Not really feeling the yellow interior panels though.
BTW, What rims are those?

dsmskyline 06-21-2007, 07:21 PM Also, is the gas door round or is it just the angle of the picture?

turbolover 06-21-2007, 07:22 PM I didn't expect to see such a good example of a yellow 1g thats for sure. Good job on the car man.
90laser_rst 06-21-2007, 07:59 PM Nice, When I saw your username I was thinkin like taxi yellow, but once I saw it I noticed it wasnt. I actually like it. Besides the fmic I dont think you really need anything, looks great!
turbofonz 06-21-2007, 08:00 PM Gas cap is a circle. And check the spoiler, it's not your stock talon spoiler.
and wow old thread. Awesome car though!
dsmskyline 06-21-2007, 08:07 PM Yah I just noticed the shaved spoiler, it looks good with the wiper whole removed.

Not that, that's factory on some :)
Notice the NASCAR like lip on the end of the spoiler. Theres a side shot floating around somewhere online.
dsmskyline 06-22-2007, 06:36 PM That does look pretty cool, I seen it on the one pic and thought it was just a shadow or something.
Still wonder about the rims though, look a lot like the stock rims on my 99 cavalier z24.
Im betting probably painted stock 240 rims though.

MindBlowin03 06-22-2007, 10:06 PM Joe is a good friend of mine, and I see the car weekly it seems. This thing is super clean. The lip on the spoiler is a great touch and looks awesome. The wheels are factory Dodge Stratus wheels I think.
yellow90tsi 06-23-2007, 05:34 AM Ok as for the wheels 01+ Stratus r/t wheels
Thanks for all the comments guys. Wait till you see the car shortly. Its going through a little revision. A purple tial is being added. And a new bigger motor. Bigger turbo. Alot of little things. I will post some more pics up as soon as I get my rear end in gear. Gas door is off of a 2000+ 3g eclipse. It pretty much fits flawlessly. A little welding and it was on in no time. The ONLY problem with the gas door is that it is on the wrong side. The 3g's have it on the passenger side so at 110+mph it blows open:eek: I will fix that problem over the next few weeks with a stiffer spring.
Antennea and rear wiper shaved.
Wing is modified also. Its actually raised up about an inch and a half or so.
JOEY A 06-23-2007, 11:03 AM Laguna seca blue would have been pretty sick also
GloriousDSM 06-24-2007, 03:27 PM is that the stealth TT pearl yellow ?
Car looks great, ditch the hayame spark plug cover imo and your all go.
-gold
yellow90tsi 06-24-2007, 04:22 PM Spark plug cover is gone, and it is replaced with a carbon fiber one now. Looks 10 times better.
The color is Phoniex Yellow Metallic from the 01+ BMW M3
GloriousDSM 06-25-2007, 12:36 AM post up new pics
DSMLIFESTYLE 06-25-2007, 12:40 PM Man that baby is Sick,You need to sale it to me LOL! Great job bro.

airjordan56 03-29-2008, 09:11 PM Beautiful car! Keep adding pictures
uberchargedDSM 03-30-2008, 12:10 AM I really like the purple/yellow combo you have going on.
Chicago_DSM 03-30-2008, 12:27 AM Yeah, who needs a wiring harness anyways!?
yellow90tsi 03-30-2008, 06:23 AM Its all there. What you see for wiring is what you get. The fuse box is half done being mounted in the glove box. All of the wires are run, just not hooked up in the cab yet. And then the engine harness comes straight down and behind the block.
lg93awdgsxer 03-30-2008, 07:30 AM Where's the oil filter? Where did you get that stuff from for that?
eagleone1980 03-30-2008, 07:36 AM I must say, initially i clicked on this thread with the intent of flaming you for having a yellow dsm, but after seeing the pics, I am VERY impressed. She definately looks good! Congrats.
+1 I must agree. I thought the same. A DSM in yellow never did it for me. But this is just full of right. Any color can be used if done with tatse and elegance. Well done! It's pimpin!;)
jc8889 03-30-2008, 07:39 AM Damn, lookin very good.
yellow90tsi 03-30-2008, 09:04 AM Where's the oil filter? Where did you get that stuff from for that?
The oil filter sit down under where the washer bottle used to be. Its a mustang size oil filter. I bought this from jegs or summit.
http://www.jegs.com/i/Perma-Cool/771/10695/10002/-1
But if you want to run AN lines you dont have to buy the whole kit, you can buy just the housings and then buy whatever an fittings and lines you prefer to run. Im using 2 90* -6 fittings and two straight -6 fittings. Maybe at most about 3 feet of -6 braided hose. Ill try to dig up some pics of how it is later.
whiteturbo 03-30-2008, 09:42 AM I'm loving IT!
fst91dsm 03-30-2008, 01:13 PM Where did you get the bumper cover support from, or did you fab that up? Very nice car by the way.
4G63 POWER 03-30-2008, 02:22 PM Looks nice, with the quality of your build i'd ditch that maf & install a aem ems & run speed density.
yellow90tsi 03-30-2008, 03:35 PM Where did you get the bumper cover support from, or did you fab that up? Very nice car by the way.
JMFAB baby. Awesome fitment. Call up Jim or Brent.
ruloco23 03-30-2008, 06:01 PM Sweet lookin car ;) Not too often you see yellow ones done right.

Definitely can't wait to hear back from you.......................
Just when I thought I had my ducks in line and all was figured out................
Almost an hour on the phone with you just changed about a dozen things or so.
You S.O.B. ;)
yellow90tsi 07-22-2008, 08:36 PM Well it has been 2 years since I have heard my own DSM run on its own power. Very excited tonight. The video is horrible, I will be getting a video camera shortly and the pics are not too bad. Enjoy.
And as always, all critics are invited good or bad. I love getting ideas or hearing things to try this or that. Thanks guys for alot of good info and support. And thanks to alot of good companies making kick a$$ parts.
I still have alot of loose ends to finish yet. I plan on driving it by the weekend.

dsm614 07-22-2008, 09:03 PM Where did you pic up those fine gems? :)
Loner 07-22-2008, 09:45 PM Yea man thats a nice ass 1g. Never thought a yellow eclipse would look so good. but you pulled it off.
4g63tcrazy 07-22-2008, 09:52 PM I like! It looks like your wastegate dump is dumping right on your LICP though.
projecTSI 07-22-2008, 09:57 PM Hell yeah Joe, everything looks awesome. Love it. Where did you relocate the fuse box to?
Spyder1gdsm 07-23-2008, 05:04 AM I'm not suprised you picked up an HKS timing belt :D
Exceptionally clean DSM my man.
Got Insulin? 07-23-2008, 05:39 AM You oughta powdercoat/paint your manifold purple to match :). Great car man.
yellow90tsi 07-23-2008, 05:44 AM projecTSI Hell yeah Joe, everything looks awesome. Love it. Where did you relocate the fuse box to?
Fuse box is in the glove box.
4g63tcrazy I like! It looks like your wastegate dump is dumping right on your LICP though.
Once I mount up the front bumper it will be dumping out the bumper. ;)
Got Insulin? You oughta powdercoat/paint your manifold purple to match . Great car man.
Not sure If I am going to do any more purple. Turbo manifold will either be coated or wrapped for now. Over the winter I will either purchase or make my own tubular.
vaboys2ndgen 07-23-2008, 05:47 AM Very nice!
dsm614 07-23-2008, 05:57 AM I still want to know where you got the fpr and filter...;)
yellow90tsi 07-23-2008, 06:13 AM I still want to know where you got the fpr and filter...;)

Chris is an awesome guy to deal with. Always quick with the shipping and some fantastic pricing. The only thing I would have done was gotten the smaller filter. This filter is huge.
slowWdsm 07-23-2008, 06:53 AM It's a huge filter but it's pretty and I'm a fan of purple.
terror rising 07-23-2008, 07:55 AM Great looking engine bay. The only things that stand out to me are the radiator brackets and hood prop need a fresh coat of paint.
ssearles 07-23-2008, 12:19 PM This is the hottest 1G I have ever seen. One thing I would do is get a nice new shiny tubular exhaust manifold on there to complete the nearly perfect engine bay.
yellow90tsi 07-25-2008, 07:27 PM I fixed the wastegate for all the guys telling me that it is not a good idea to dump into the engine bay.
I finished the front end about 95%. Just have to adjust the lights, hood, and fenders alittle bit.
I actually drove it under its own power today. That was about all I got done today. Tomm. I have to finish up some fuse box wiring and install the rest of the interior parts.
Here are some more pics for your ( well mine too) viewing pleasure ( I hope).

4G63 POWER 07-26-2008, 12:48 AM Looks, nice you should ceramic coat that exhaust mani, it's going to melt everything in your engine bay!
Got Insulin? 07-26-2008, 01:05 AM Can't wait to see her at a TST meet.
turbo4g63t 07-26-2008, 09:43 AM Looks, nice you should ceramic coat that exhaust mani, it's going to melt everything in your engine bay!
I was going to say the same thing. I think that would put the finishing touch on a very clean engine bay. Good work
scotthidley 07-26-2008, 03:02 PM How about either a matte black, or brushed aluminum spark plug cover? You can also run some of your cables between the engine mount bracket and the inner fender sheet metal on the drivers side. It'll help keep those closer to the sheet metal and make them a little less noticable. If you paint your prop rod, paint your rad brackets too (body color would look good).
yellow90tsi 08-24-2008, 09:21 AM Snapped a few pics today of the ride. Still have things to clean up and work, but I really dont give a damn about those things because I am ABLE TO DRIVE the car  :D
Yellow valve cover had to come off for the rest of the summer, issues with the -8lines and catch can. Will have a new yellow one shaved and redone back on for next summer.
Car feels awesome. Pulls like a bear. Shooting to get to the track within the next week or so. Well enough with that stuff, here are some pics.

gSx-LeX 08-29-2008, 06:01 PM Looks great. I've been indirectly following this build for some time.
You put a lot of time into the setup and paintjob, it doesn't look like you've spared any cost in building a VERY nice setup. So why use a Maf-t ?
brokeawd 08-29-2008, 07:27 PM The thing that really sets it off is the flat black roof.
Redmaster89 08-29-2008, 10:36 PM Very Nice, I might just have to paint my Gvr4 yellow now

Dserge 09-19-2008, 08:43 AM I want this 1g. Haha.
Very nice car.
yellow90tsi 09-19-2008, 10:29 AM Who did you paint job? It's very meticulous. Do you what type of paint they used?
The paint job on the door jambs, under the hood, engine bay and bumpers were all done by me. The outside of the car was done by my father and a good freind of mine. ALL bodywork was by my father, except for the wet sanding which he watched over my shoulder till it was perfect.
We used Glasurit Automotive paint and clear. That is factory BMW paint and rather pricey. But end result is fantastic. The primer was really thick, a good filler primer.
Meticulous is a great word for that, thanks. Mirrors were fully dissasembled to paint just the housing and the back plate was then painted black. Upclose certain people would notice that stuff, but most will not.

yellow90tsi 06-20-2009, 05:56 PM Well as a small update as too where I am at with the car. I had a few changes in my life in the past few months and the biggest being buying a house. So that put things on hold for alittle bit. Fast forward to April and after I pulled the trans apart to see what was up, and I found I had a few chipped teeth on third and fourth, 4-spider center diff thrust bearing failure, and the synchro rings failed. I also decided to send my QuarterMaster twin disk back to get checked out and serviced. While removing that from the crank I noticed alittle too much crank end play for my liking so I decided to pull the motor.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j190/yellow90tsi/winter%20build/DSCF2759.jpg
After tearing down I decided to rebuild as the thrust bearing was starting to wear prematurely. Upon further disassembling of things I took the oil pump apart to find that the driven gear was locked inside the case, it would still spin but it galled the case so bad that it made a new surface to ride on and made a lip so I had to drive it out. So as of right now I ordered some new parts and I am waiting on the rods to get here. Once they arrive, machine work then assembly, then run the bitch.
Here are some pics of whats going on the car.

4G63 POWER 06-21-2009, 01:25 AM So you didn't use a new oil pump on your last build?
lazylaser 06-21-2009, 02:07 AM What rods and pistons did you have in it before?
yellow90tsi 06-21-2009, 05:53 AM So you didn't use a new oil pump on your last build?
Yes I did but it was an OEM Hyundai pump, lesson learned I guess. Although Mindblowin03 had an OEM pump fail on him within 3000-4000 miles. He has used these Hyundai pumps without problems so I thought I would try one. So I figured I would try one and it didnt last for me.
yellow90tsi 06-21-2009, 05:56 AM What rods and pistons did you have in it before?
I used the Mahle 8.5:1 pistons and eagle H-beams with great success. I had no complaints about the setup and would still run them today if things didnt go the way they did. Mindblowin's motor was crankwalked so he had to rebuild, so I gave him a good deal on my setup and there was a group buy on the rods so I switched over.
lazylaser 06-21-2009, 08:13 AM Yes I did but it was an OEM Hyundai pump...
Cool, may I ask where you guys buy your hyundai pumps from?

yellow90tsi 06-19-2010, 07:16 PM Small update: Got the exhaust all together. I did a 3" downpipe to about 10inches behind the flex section and then went to an aluminum 4" exhaust. A friend of mine had it on his car and he ended up tearing the car apart and I grabbed it for a good deal. Also got the radiator and everything else in the car.

yellow90tsi 06-19-2010, 07:16 PM THE FUCKIN THING IS ALIVE!!!!!!!
Here is first drive, notice the dust blowing off of the car. And a quick 2nd gear pull after seating the rings. Enjoy. I will get a walkaround video up also in alittle bit.
Startup went ok. I had two small oil leaks. One on the oil return flange as it was seated properly. And one on the oil cooler lines as I did not tighten them all the way. Still have a tonnnnnnnn of shit to do but I have some motivation now. Anyway on to the videos.
MAke sure to watch in 720HD!!!!
