Street Racers Beware:
An investigation has confirmed an eminent crackdown in Illegal Street racing in and around the tri-county area. Tazwell, Peoria and Woodford, along with the Illinois State Police are conducing a multi-departmental crack down on illegal racing events in and around the area.
Independent sources have purported instances of non-uniformed officers present at the local events, and rumors of racing poser “cop wannabe’s” reporting on car enthusiasts’ non-sanctioned events (narks).
Using the much-famed “The Spot” for reference, Pekin police have received funding to outfit Pekin Township, and the lower river park with surveillance cameras. These cameras are state of the art, having the ability to see in near darkness with their built in infrared illuminator module, and have the ability to zoom in and read license plates clearly from more than 150 yards. Putting that in perspective, that is over a football field away. Far enough that the naked eye in all likely hood would not see the camera.
These cameras will be monitored and recorded at all times.
Change of Status for location:
The lower Pekin River Park used to be Private Property. This is no longer the case. The land now belongs to Pekin Proper, and the roadway running through the park, is considered a public street, giving the law officers, every right to issue citations, as they see fit.
I was chastised and ultimately booted from CSS, due to me warning off Compressor Surge and Killerfish from participating over at “the spot”. At which time the owner of that site told me, in no uncertain terms, not to “bad mouth” his racing spot, and if I did so again, I would be banned.
Since I personally know both Killerfish and Compressor Surge, I told the owner to take a staggering hop off a bridge. Killerfish himself made inquiries about what had been stated above, and from yet another source, it was revealed that the above statements are correct. I will leave it up to Killerfish to comment.
I can account for numerous DSMcentral members ticketed in the last 2 years by just being near this racing spot. In 3 cases, those individuals were not participating in race events when ticketed. This has occurred with several other individuals from Peking, driving mustangs. Alas, I cannot chalk it up to import owner profiling.
It has been rumored that since the racing events happen in Peoria County, Peking PD cannot legally write a citation. This is a fallacy. The three individuals that I’m aware of were ticketed in Pekin, for occurrences that purported happened in Peoria County. The tickets stuck.
I stand here today stating, if you race over in Pekin. You will be busted, caught on camera, issued tickets and in the end lose out on hundreds of dollars in fines, that could go for bigger turbos, better fuel control, or entry fees into sanctioned events. The choice is yours.
Other race spots that are being monitored:
Trigger Road, Peoria County.
Washington Blacktop, Woodford County.
Rt6 and 474, Peoria County & Illinois State police.
Adams and Jefferson, near the industrial section Peoria PD
Church Rd, near old Stone Church, Bartonville Illinois
Noffsinger Road, Washington Illinois.
Feel free to comment on other police sightings, the use of non descript Police cars, utilized for Traffic enforcement.
Il State has a pair of older f bodies, all blacked out.
East Peoria has been using a dark green newer Monte Carlo for traffic violation in the construction zones.
Peoria has numerous non-municipal plated vehicles used for Police action.
