im still not that impressed..

nice time for a gutted pig....

I wonder how much power she puts down?

To be honest, only everything behind the front seats is gutted. It has no AC and PS. Other than that, everything else is intact.

In the whole realm of things, I agree, its nothing too impressive, but here is what IS impressive.

The 6g72 has put down 700+AWHP on a completely STOCK bottom end.

The 9.7@151 was run with a PIGGYBACK

Twin evoIII's on a VR-4 put down about 560+awhp with supporting mods and run 125+traps in the 1/4 mile

Things are really starting to come together for the 3/s platform. :)

This is just the begining..;)

How's it the beginning for a car they stopped producing 7 years ago? I think it just further proves that it is a poor platform. If the 6g72 was good they would have been doing this in the 90's.

The 3000GT is an undiscovered secret ;)

Is this impressive for you?

13t's + robs work .................$838
Z06 MAFT...........................$250
550cc................................$295
Hotwired Walbro...................$100
MBC....................................$20
Gutted pre-cats & testpipe....Free
TOTAL...............................<$1500

60' - 1.703
1/8 - 7.666
MPH - 90.16
1/4 - 11.893
MPH - 118.04

Running 11 at the track with the stock downpipe

Priceless

running 118mph traps with under $1500 in mods is AMAZING! Thats BPU supra territory from a stop and roll...anything that can hang with a bpu supra with so little $$ in mods deserves respect in my book.

If you'd put that motor in a civic it would have gone 4's by now.

Well, I for one am impressed.

So would just about any person with a fraction of drag racing knowledge when the combination of stock block and 9s are mentioned.

Anyhow, the beginning of the platform exists because turbo kits are becomming readily available. Shit, up until a few years ago, your AUTO DSM 13G turbos were a fairly big upgrade in terms of CFM.

VR-4's are just now becoming reasonably priced so the market is starting to open up.

Auggie... nice to see you over here.

VR-4's are just now becoming reasonably priced so the market is starting to open up.
They have always been reasonably priced for what they are. The recent development is that the older cars have depreciated to the point where teenage morons and "toonerz" can afford to buy them and promptly blow them up and/or wrap them around trees.

This is a double-edged sword. Because more people with "aftermarket intentions" for the cars are buying them, the 3/S aftermarket is growing rapidly (which means more innovations and cool parts for those of us who know what we're doing). The downside is obvious: idiots are buying 3/S cars and killing them, and there are only so many cars to go around.

the cars are beautiful thats for damn sure. the problem right now is that no one is buying. as the cars become cheaper and cheaper the miles go up and up. just like the dsms. problem is the motor is alot more expensive to get built. at the same time the trannies are hard to come by, and there is no tre or shep to build you a stronger one. my buddy has a 97 vr4 and he cant sell it to save his life. it seems like no one in the detroit area wants anything to do with them. ive always wanted one, but if i get one its gonna stay bone stock and unmolested..... thats what the dsm is for!

Who the hell needs a built motor for a 3/S? Not many really need it.

I didnt notice before, but he did that at Atlanta Dragway. That track is poorly prepped, and all cars have traction issues. My friends 98 GSX ran an 11.5 at Silver Dollar Raceway about 2 hours from Atlanta Dragway. He ran the exact same setup at Atlanta Dragway and couldnt break 12.0. We (GA DSM) dont host any events at Atlanta Dragway (30 mins from the majority of GA DSM members). Instead we drive 2 hours to Silver Dollar Raceway because the track is prepped ALOT better.

The trick to Commerce (ATL dragway) is to right before or right after the NHRA is held there. The track prep is usually a LOT better then.

turns out they swapped the 6 speed for the auto and picked up a few tenths..first time ever someone swapped an auto awd into a 3/s for drag racing purposes..

I don't care how quick a dsm is a 3000gt out classes us by a long shot.....my bro has a 92 vr4 and the car is beautiful. I love my dsm but the 3000 is a premium sport car. Why else would it have a switch to make your exhuast louder and to stiffen up your suspension? The beast also has four whell steering of course. Definitely something dsm's don't. Aside from that when u sit in the thing you fell like your in the space shuttle.
