CarbonDSM2007

My buddy has a 1975 Dodge Dart Swinger that has been reduced in weight and has had the slant six swapped out for a high performance 318 (Edelbrock headers, carb, cams, etc.) and is running right around 350 hp at the crank (haven't Dynoed it yet so no idea what it's putting down to the pavement). I bought a bone-stock 1992 Talon TSI AWD back in september of 2006. The thing was a total let-down... So far I've replaced the clutch, which was basically gone when I bought it, the water-pump + timing belt etc. It's been through two Alternators (first one fried out because of leaky power steering pump O-rings, second was faulty to begin with). Also, there has been many other small problems... Just the joys of owning a DSM  Oh well... Anyways I finally had my vehicle running right... over the past couple of months I made a few changes to my ride as follows:
1.) Removed BCS
2.) Removed honeycomb from MAF
3.) Built a custom-made 2.5" Upper Air Intake Plenum
4.) Cut-open wheel well to increas airflow to intercooler
5.) Removed fog-lights and brackets + plastic shroud to increase airflow to intercooler
6.) Removed "S" curve in the hose leading from the Turbo to the Intercooler
7.) Mounted Water Temp, Oil Pressure, A Voltmeter gauge cluster on door
8.) Removed and blocked off EGR valve
9.) Installed Valve Cover Breather
10.) New Brembo rotors (OEM) with ceramic pads all the way around
11.) MOMO 17" wheels with 225/45R17 Michelen Pilot Sports
12.) Some minor interior work and weight reduction
**Lowering Springs, 18" Focal F5 Wheels and Front Strut-Bar on the way **
So there you have it, some minor performance increases on a more or less stock Talon. This thing is a daily driver so I didn't want to over-do the horsepower gain.
Anyways, my buddy decided that we should do a mock quater-mile just to see how quick my car had become. I hadn't ran it on the track so I didn't really have a base-time, which sucked but oh well. Me drove around for almost an hour trying to find an awesome stretch of road to race on. By the time we found it, my buddy and I were so anxious to race that we did away with stop-watches and just went for it. My AWD hooked up right off the bat with some minor wheel-spin and my car took off. The Dart laid doen a decent stretch of rubber (probably 10 to 20 feet). About halfway down I started to pull even further away from him so that when I passed the line Iwas atleast a couple car lengths away from him. There are thousands of variable that could've affected this race, but my buddy has since drove my car and said "holy sh*t... this things fast"... As juvenile as that sounds, this guy has a couple of Coronets, a Charger 440 R/T and a Plymouth Cuda AAR. Most of these cars can pull 11's in the 1/4 mile, so when Iget a compliment from him, I know it's the truth :D As for the civic... I was going about 150km/h on the highway when a brand new lowered civic with wheels and exhaust came flying past me... I decided to do the same to him... I caught up to him in a matter of seconds and flashed my blue interior LED's at him :P He caught my drift and started to pull away... after a bit more of this both him and I both got caught up in traffic... Whenever there was an open spot that I would try to pass him in, he would cut me off... I got annoyed and dropped back a bit... I let the trubo spool up and threaded the needle between him and another car that was a car length or two back from him in the other lane... The look on the guys face was priceless... We sped up from there and kept on along the highway until he started falling back at around 180km/h, I kept going and reached 210 before I had to turn off for my exit... While I'd actually like to some some stopwatch runs, both of these were pretty fun to do...
