92 tsi fwd tach problems

my stock tach almost never works when i first start driving. especially when the outside temp. is cold. when the car gets to full operating temp. it usually starts working. but not always. i just ordered a guage cluster from ebay. i installed it and its still the same. ideas anyone?

sounds like wireing problem, have you checked over your wiring?

no i havent. where would i start? i have no idea what wires to check.
