Hey guys the new site is great. It looks better than the other one IMHO. But you know what think is really cool, this may just be me though. I have seen some other forums, and they have a big number of the ranking things(you know Senior, Junior DSmtalker.) Would it be cool if there were a bunch of rankings, like in the military I mean. The when you get promoted your like wow cool!!! Yes! I am a "fill in the blank" Like
Newbie DSMTalker
Softcore DSMTalker
Junior DSMTalker
Experienced DSMTalker
Senior DSMTalker
Hardcore DSMTalker
Master DSMTalker
Godly DSMTalker

Something like that would be cool, no?
I've seen one forum where the used Military rankings and had the little shoulder insignias to go with them, dont remember the forum tho. It was cool. Anyways just a suggestion for something a little fun. Not to say the forum is boring, this is waaaaaaaay better than IRC or anything I've seen. This is rad guys, keep up the great work.

Well Mike, with your decent post total, I can see why you'd want the rankings... you'd be kicken some ass around here :)

Actually, this new board should give total customization possibilities in that regard. This is the way it stands now:

Junior DSMtalker 0-30 posts
Senior DSMtalker 31-100 posts
Hard Core DSMtalker 101 and above

We should be able to add an unlimited number of user titles but having eight might be a bit much :) Maybe five ??? So lets see some feedback... give suggested user titles and the thresholds needed to be awarded the title.

Also, I believe I can give our esteemed moderators new titles, and maybe the admin (me) as well, so feel free to suggest some. Keep in mind we can ax your account quicker than you can say "vtec this", so watch your suggestions for the moderators and admin :) :) :) (j/k)

Let's see what I can come up with here...
Five you say...hmmmm

New DSM talker: 0-50 posts
DSM talker: 51-125 posts
Super DSM talker: 126-225 posts
Hardcore DSM talker: 226-300 posts
Pro DSM talker: 301+ posts

Power DSM talker: Moderators (I just like it) :D
Master DSM talker: Admin (Ted)

The limits I propose are a bit higher for the simple reason that; The more someone hangs out and posts, the more "knowledgeable" he or she should be based upon repeated exposure to the usual topics, and automotive knowledge in general. Also, they are more *helpful* based upon post count.

There was a post awhile ago that someone wanted to know who he should listen too. A rating system like this *could* assure some newer people by the "rating" who has the most experience.

I do not consider myself an expert on all things DSM. But, by my post count under this system, someone might. Most moderators have a high post count, due to contribution and/or dedication (no life, lol)to the site. That is why moderators should have one title no matter what post count they attain. I see we moderator's as volunteers to a higher power if you will. But by repeated exposure,level-headedness , and a willingness to help we obtain post count...
Just my .02 :D

:D (that quote thing really saves me alot of typing) :D
I agree we should definitely have more rankings, it always makes me more involved when I know there's another rank I can get to, :) how about the Ultimate talker 500+? I know it might sound alot now but I'm sure there will be talkers with higher post count than that soon :)

I like the idea of the different rankings also. I also kinda look forward to getting to the next level. :) 5 should be a pretty good number to set the levels at because with more it will get silly.

We'll go with 5 levels, not including mods/admins, unless we get more feedback/suggestions here.

New DSMtalker 1-49
Standard DSMtalker 50-199
Super DSMtalker 200-299
Hardcore DSMtalker 300-499
Ultimate DSMtalker 500 and beyond

Yeah the rankings are cool.
I think that the name "standard" might just inspire me too post my way past 200 someday.
Worthless posts like this one will help me do just that.
haha LOL.
