View Full Version : injector resistor pack wiring

I have been looking over and over the diagram for the way the injector resistor pack wires into the wiring harness. the pack has 5 wires coming from it, 4 black ones and a white one.
OK, here's the problem, I need to wire this resistor pack to my NT wiring harness to use 450cc injectors. The T and NT are the same in that area except the NT lacks the pack, now, from what i know about resistors and ceramic ones like the pack has... would be that I hook each of the black wires to either 1 injector pulse wire, and the white to ground...
OR
each black wire goes to 1 injector ground and the white wire grounds the whole deal. this idea sounds more "right"
anyone have any experience or know anything about wiring of the harness??? theories? i'll take anything! :)

according to the manual you need a ignition source from the mfi relay to go to the white wire and the black wires will go to the positive side of the injectors... thats what i see anyway... i can fax you the pages out of the manual if you want....?

well the injectors have 2 wires, one for + pulse and one for ground (obviously), i'm pretty sure it's not ground triggered, so if the pulse source came in on 1 wire, then got split into 4 wires each to it's own injector then they would fire at the same time wouldn't they?
ok, so the 4 black wires DO go on the injectors... next question is... are hte injectors ground (-) fired? or pulse (+) fired??? anyone know that? that would at least give me an idea of which side to connect this thing to.
the pack must connect to the + wire on the injectors, to offer the resistance that a ressistor is supposed to do :) so my theory is that the injectors are ground fired. i know someone knows the answer to this, i need it confirmed please.

to the best of my knowledge... all injectors are triggered from an occilating(sp?) ground signal... they are fed a constant + and the ground is applied for a certain number of milliseconds, thus opening the injectors for a certain duty cycle...

here's my rendition of how i think it goes, correct me if i'm wrong... each ground wire from each resistor is sent to it's respective ecu pin (51,52,60,61) where it is ground fired from the ECU.
The positive wire on each injector is connected to the resistor pack which is wired into the 12v source in the engine's wiring harness, which feeds a constant 12v through the resistors to the injectors. here's a pic... seem right??? anyone know? :)
BTW thanks cooter for helpin me on this! much appreciated!

that looks right, at least thats what the diagram in the dsm manual looks like... let me know if it works out.

just a sugestion, if you trace the injectors wires back through the harness you will find that the 4 hot wires go into 1 , close by the battery, when wiring in the resistor pack, all you need to do is hook the white wire to the wire coming from the inside of the car, and just hook the black wires up to each wire going to the injectors, its not that bad, if you have any questions pm me

OMG this thread is so un-believably old its hilarious to even read it.

I just used two DSM resistor packs to install low-impedence injectors on my turbo Buick, and that is exactly how I wired it. Who cares if the thread is old? :)

Just brings up memories of the summer I first put the turbo motor in my nt and created the resistor pack spider.

Yea when you're 19 you do some dumb things, engine bay now for reference.

Not sure what problems, if any, this would cause, but the injector circuit inside the ECU is different between N/T and T as well.
