So Im confused as to why there is a regional forum if people cant use it to communicate?? I am just confused as to why we cant communicate with each other in this forum... This forum is dead now that the midwest meetup thread is closed. Am i missing the point of having a message board??
Mods please chime in...
Message board
Function: noun
1 : a board for posting notices (as at a school)
2 : a public electronic forum that allows users to post or read messages or to post or download files and that is accessed by computer over a network (as the Internet)

You can make threads about meets, but don't turn it into a chat room like has happened in the past.

Yup I haven't been around as much. But hey I still use it for searching and trying to help others, which I think is one of the main reasons for (car)forums. I do not disagree with you guys though.

Yeah I agree also. I'm not complaining, because it is a very useful forum and it's free, but some of the rules are a little strict. Or maybe it's just the wrong people enforcing them, not being leniant enough. All it takes sometimes is someone posting in your thread with some grammar/spelling issues or two idiots arguing and your thread gets closed, and that's pretty annoying to be honest. And if they are going to discourage "chatting" in the form of posts it would be nice to provide chatrooms instead. Maybe that would be too much extra work, but it does seem like it would be easy to implement, I don't really know.

Uhm, that's the idea
This isn't a free for all. You guys are guests in our house. Back in the day registration was turned off almost all of the time so we didn't even have half the problems that we do now.
I'm glad that you guys are setting up a forum, I'm honestly surprised it's taken this long.

Did you read what I wrote when I closed the last thread?
Congratulations. This has deteriorated into the EXACT SAME chat room banter for which your last thread was closed.
The Events/Get Togethers section is NOT a substitute for having a local DSM board or email list. This section is for posting about SPECIFIC events and get togethers in your area... not talking about 800 different topics or having your own "mini DSMtalk" just for people in your area. Anything not about specific events and get togethers in your area should be discussed in the appropriate forum (i.e. General Tech, Electrical, Suspension, etc.), where ALL DSMtalk members can participate in and learn from the discussion.
For those of you who will undoubtedly question this ruling, precedent has been set on this issue in two previous examples.

Surely there must be an Illinois or Chicago area DSM board. If not... sounds like a great time for somebody to start one.
Thread closed. Do not start another one.READ what I wrote and get it into your head. The Events forum on DSMtalk is not here to serve as your local DSM board. It is for discussing / planning / announcing specific events in your area. If you want to talk about anything OTHER than an upcoming event (or planning of such event), do it on the rest of the forums where everyone can participate in the discussion.

No problems with you guys, I understand everything and the actual purpose of dsmtalk.
This is a great learning community and discussion board,
We just forgot that part....
Dsmtalk has been the first forum I've ever been on, and what taught me a lot when I was starting out. Im not going against it at all, and will still return to the site regularly for its intended purpose.
For our chicago/illinois stuff, I invite everyone to the new site, and we can continue our local chats

Glad to hear you guys are getting your own forum, another step in the right direction for the ChiDSM scene.
No need to have this thread around though, your questions have been answered. I hope that everyone can come to realize why we disapprove of chat threads here.

96GSX: Thank you for taking the initiative to get a local site up and running. Believe me, we want people using DSMtalk, but it's very important to have a local board too.
