Seeing that EFI's PMS Datalogger has not the means of monitoring Knock via Knock Sum. I was wondering how the rest of you PMS'rs tune to the edge without running into detonation. (Timing, PW, etc)

If there is some good literature on this topic, please point me to it or use this thread as a basis for a 'hopefully' valuable discussion.

I would just watch for the timing being pulled on the handled indicating knock and I would tune so that there would be no timing retard. I think the timing is monitored on the 2nd or 3rd screen, I can't remember anymore.

Ya greenstreak, It seems that timing will be the best data point to watch. I do have EFI's datalogger which I believe should help.

One thing, it would be nice if EFI would suuply a "starting point" data set for our car's other than 450cc or 550cc infectors setup. I personally run 750's and would love to use something closer. I guess we can't ask for everything.

If anyone else out there is using large injectors with this system, I would love to see your tables!

Well my friend has a TMO, but since you have a 2G you don't have that luxury. Like Greenstreak said, about all you can do is watch timing. It should increase linearly as revs increase. If it decreases slightly after 6,500 don't worry to much, that's where the peak hp is stock, so the stock ecu lowers timing a little after that point <at least on 1Gs>.

Sounds about right Nick.

Q: What timing advance does anyone with a PMS show at the end of a hard pull (6000+ RPMs)?

Clarification: Not after you pull off the throttle and timing spikes. I mean usable timing at the end of the curve "gear".

PS: Thanks Le Talon for the URL!

Go here http://www.twingles.com/ideck/eclipse/dyno.htm for a slew of dyno charts/figures/etc with my pms. Also http://www.twingles.com/ideck click on eclipse, performance, tuning and you'll see alot more graphs, data plots, and all. I run 660s on my green turbo, 550s pms code

dre99gsx: Thanks for the URL's. I will run over there right now and check it out.. Appercieate it!

So far, I am still receiving the same two answers from the two camps!

I guess the REAL question being discussed here:

-Is it better to pull 15%-20% fuel out using the stock 550 program with big injectors, say 720+cc?

OR

-Is it better to add fuel using a 720/750 (Home grown, so to speak) custom injector setup with the larger injectors?

Will both strats end up at the same place or will one allow the motor (SYSTEM) function better (More HP/Better MPG)?

Either will work, i'm experimenting with a "homegrown" system now :) and even with 720cc i still find myself taking fuel out. You'll find yourself taking out alot of fuel with the 550s pms map, but thats fine. As long as you take out xxx fuel everyhwere, it will act like your running the 550 injectors per-say.
