My friend and I stopped at a gas station in my city for some late night munchies. While we were in the gas station, a 1994 Acura Legend 2 door pulls up outside. It happens to be the same guy my friend had raced in his 97 GST and destroyed. The guy and my friend start talking and I simply asked if he wanted to run a Laser. Here comes the disgusting part, he laughed at me and said "he would run me into the ground." I asked him if he really thought so and he replied "I know I will". It was all on after this. I was pissed as hell. Why in the hell was this guy talking so much shit about a car he had never seen before? I tell him to pull out on the double lane road next to the gas station. We both turn (him in front of me) and he floors it. I nail the throttle and within about a second I blow by him like he was standing still. I had to let off after the end of second gear because there was a curve in the road ahead. After the curve there is a long straight-away and he guns it again. I let him gain about a car length just for fun. Then I drop into third and once again pass him like he was standing still. We raced from about 50mph to about 100mph and when I reached that mark I must have put about 12 car(not exagerating!) lengths between us. Why does eveyone who has the Honda symbol think their cars are soooooo fast? I have only met about 2 cool people who drive Honda's. All the others think their little hondas can beat anything on the road because they have intake and exhaust. It just bugs me.

It's not that they are all a$$holes, they are just misinformed children. They read SCC, and Super Sweet all day long, but they skip the articles on the DSM's. They never read that the authors love driving the eclipse becuase of it's sheer power. I've enlightened several honda owners myself. Normally filling my belly with a steak dinner. Now they are my friends and hold different opinions on DSM's. :D

I know what you mean when you say that they are misinformed. They read all these BS ads on how that if they get a intake they will be able to hang with alot of cars out there. Most of my friends have either hondas or acuras and it seems that they want to race every single time they get something new. Super Street is full of BS as well as SCC.

Yeah well after reading all the wonderful articles in mags like import tuner, and super street the Honda owners are soo fully of themselves, and figure an Acura plus rims and exhaust, is the badest car on the road.
I go out of my way to teach them otherwise. :D

Hondas aren't complete crap, but they're pretty close for the street. They just don't have any torque. They do however have the best suspension designs on any affordable car. They're fun for autoXing, however why anyone dragraces them is beyond me. I was talking to a kid in class the other day about cars. He was all stoked that he had gotten his Civic to run a 15 with the original motor and no nos. I told him I run 15s stock.
"What car do you have?"
"A eagle Talon"
"The turbo AWD"
"Yep"
"Those are pretty easy to make fast huh?"
"1k will get you high 13s"
"Jesus Christ, maybe I'll sell the prelude I got now and get one of those"
Maybe there is hope after all.
BTW I have owned two Civics, somebody just had to show me the light

I had the same thing happen to me. It was a black dx civic(the real slow ones) that had nice rims, stickers, the big tach, and lights-the whole works. I pulled so far away that he didn't catch up to me until the third light. It was pathetic. I shouldn't have wasted the gas on this guy. I was up to 120 by the time he was at 60. But they always have to rev there engine. By that time I had already slowed down for the turn and forgot about him. Next thing i know he passes me in the left lane flashing his middle finger in the air flashing his lights like he had one. If you are a sore loser than get a faster car, and don't get a civic. If i didn't have to go home i would have passed him a few more times. I think that if you are beat you should accept it and hope someday you can get a car that can beat that one

my friend has a beautiful black 2000 EX civic. that is probably the only civic i respect. first reason is that it looks bad ass and he washes it ever day almost. second, is that it is actually pretty quick. he raced my friends '95 GST with BOV upper IC and a centerforce clutch, and beat him using nitrous!!! the guy with the eclipse was quick to make up excuses. third reason i respect this civic is because he goes to a local DSM shop to get info!!! all the guys at my shop love him cause he is funny as hell and are always glad to help him out. granted he still has that "i have a civic and can kick some ass in racing" attitude, but it is usually just to try and get a rise out of people. other then him all other civic drivers are pricks!!! trust me i know i used to have a civic...

Its funny at the track how they'll all line up together in the "you're only cool if you drive a civic posse".
Lots of money spent for 15 second passes.
You can hear them rev it up, dump the clutch, peel out for about a second until the lack of torque introduces a nasty bog and the 2.6 60' time is the reult.
Its amusing to watch.

greenstreak-I was the friend in the passenger seat. After all the action, we pull to a 4 way stop. The guy said "pretty quick" while sort of hiding his face because he was so ashamed. 91LaserT asked him if he wanted to bet $$$ on a race, but the guy came back with a lame "Nah man, mumble mumble mumble" He was pretty embarrassed. Then he just roled his 1% tinted windows up, turned up his treble and drove off. I guess he learned something that day.
