Ok,I know this isn't the right forum to ask this but I posted this in parts talk and only a decent guy posted my,thanks guy....well, here it is:
ok I have a 1g talon and I would like to know if there's a system like the one that's on the Skyline. It's a transfer(center Differential) but you can change the car from 4wd to 2wd only by taking out a fuse. This would be cool to do bur-outs and to get to the dyno.Any links or info???

yeah, they have them it was talked about in another post, but cant remember. try ebay thats were it was. you can switch between awd and fwd, but you have to be at a complete stop. cruise around in fwd, pull up to a light, get a race and put in awd, best of both worlds.

2X post no biggie
it's a JDM trany and has a switch on the T case to drop it out but the trany alsio should have a switch to lock the VC so it won't burn out.
it is a option from the JDM GVR-4 not all of them had it only some.

how many of you succesfully put this transmission on w/o problems. I have heard alot of bad things but have not talked to somebody that actually has it. I can get one real cheap right now but I dont want to take the risk of all the bad things I have heard.

I have one in my car. I bought it last year. I have had no problems (knock on wood) with mine. I bought it used from a local JDM place. I have also supplied 2 more for others...and as far as I know, there was nothing bad about em. except that FWD sucks :) its good for dyno'ing but thats about it. There is no LSD in the fronts of these things, so if honda-style smokey one wheel burnouts are your thing :) ...
what bad things did you hear???

i heard that its hard to find parts to rebuild them and that sometimes the gears are different and not matching with the rear end or something like that and it could lock up..
quote from a local that does work on all our cars..
"the jap trannys are 89 models. 22 spline t case. small bearing non upgragable second gear. and they have parts in them that can break making them useless cause you cant get parts for them. jap trannys do not have a vin # so parts are difficult to get. the tranny would be good for stock use but not wise for performance use."

interesting...thanks for the info. I got one for Rob@ mofugas and I know he wanted to send it to TRE for a rebuild for racing duty. I would assume he has it back by now or I would have heard something...maybe I will ask him :) I could see any JDM from 89 being difficult to track down parts. But I understood that the only thing different was the 1st gear...but I'm no mechanic :)

i was wondering if anyone had any more info on this. still think it would be perfect, if it worked. awd around town stoplight smoking everthing, hit the freeway w/awd gears ratio through 2 wheels and youve got a killer top end, take out the supras in 2 ways, oooh that would piss'em off.
any more info would be nice.
went to magnus site and it says you must take out 2bolts from tranny. that kills my dreams of a real 4wd-2wd transfer case.

Anybody notice how outrageous Magnus prices are? $650 for 550cc inj.? Thats the highest ive ever seen. $1,150 for a 16G turbo unported and unclipped? Geeeezzzz. Thats rediculous.
