View Full Version : venting BOV into exhaust manifold?

Assuming you have a stand alone so you can vent to atmosphere, but instead you vent it to the exhaust manifold (use valve for 1 way vent), would it work as anti-lag system to keep turbine spooled?

I don't really know how you would keep the heat away from the BOV. but what do you think?

umm...no. The pressure of the exhaust might keep the "oneway valve" from opening, causing a large amount of back bressure snaping the turbin shaft. dam there gose a good turbo.

its an original idea, i'll give you that.

say you have a test pipe & SAFC/AFC/other fuel computer couldn't you just richen up the rpm range below +psi output or your turbo to create an anti-lag system?

the only bad part is doesn't the anti-lag systems on rally cars severly limit the life of turbo/exhaust?

It wouldn't be traveling at a fast enough velocity to do much.
The anti lag setup on a rally car dumps enough raw fuel to create an explosion in the exhaust manifold, so yes it kills turbos. The BOV idea wouldn't though.

there is usually MORE positive pressure in the exhaust manifold then in the i/c pipes... sometimes LOTS more, this depends on turbo cfm, rpm, and the actual size of the exhaust manifold and turbo exhaust housing... turbine wheel = cork....

the bov into exaust would only "help" spool the turbo when you let off anyway? so are we talking keeping boost between shifts or to help spool the turbo in the first place. and I dont think the exaust pressure would restrict the openging of the bov because 25 or so VAC (in hg or somthing) is a lot of neg pressure. If you want to keep the turbo going threw the gears get a computer that when you shift you can stay hard on the gas and it will rpm will stay at like 4gs. or learn how to shift really fast I can shift were my bov does a 1/4 shu and I still get off the gas. and if you want better spool time buy unclipped turbos and get proper cams head and exaust flow. Or the grand NOS set up from like 3-4.5 or somthing. Just thoughts

the above was said by me but I did not see my friend was signed in sorry, one more post for him

Anti-lag is not hard on the car if used for short periods of time at the right settings and is the most effective way to kill turbo lag in a racing situation.

Just put another injector and plug in front of the turbo intake. add a titanium compressor wheel and have the system activate between shifts and walla easy ass that. just make sure you don't blow your self up.
p.s. don't really try this guys.
