I just bought a 99 GSX last week and was looking to transfer my Bazooka tube and possibly my Alpine amp from my old car. I was reading in the archives that this is possible. Can anyone tell me if this would be a huge deal to hook up one or both of these? Are there any connectors that I would need to purchase or is there an output already on the stock head unit or amp? I had this system professionally installed when I bought it, so I'm not too familiar with setting these up. Thanks for any help.

if the alpine amp is to power the sub then.... you you will pry still need the basic amp hook up kits. power cable to go to the battery, remote line from your ign. a line output converter (loc) to make you speaker wires (pry the rears) in rca's so you can use them on the alpine rca inputs
the LOC will just tie into the rear speaker wires so you still have your speakers hooked up like normal. good luck
most all car stereo install places will have this part (loc) for pry $20

circuit city has 'em, they're $19.99, for the pair, high low convertors, gives you a set of rca pre outs off of the rear speakers or behind the deck.

I've done the same thing. I brought my bazooka tube from my GST over to my GSX. The whole process consisted of me tracing the connections to find that the installation was made by tapping wires to the existing rear speakers. These were also used to provide the tube's power.
Although, mine may be different than yours since mine is the self-amplified model. Anyway, my buddy transfered the tube for $3.97 in shop material costs. So it should be able to be done cheaply. Good luck..

Thanks for the help. I've got the self-amplified one also. The Alpine amp I have is what is driving the separates up front. Maybe by uninstalling it from my other car, I'll have an idea how to reinstall it in the Eclipse.

Do the rear speakers still function normally with this setup?
Also what do you do with the stock amp?
