Does anyone know which one will offer better performance, lees pressure drop, etc?

It seems like bar-plate is better looking and less prone to damage.

From the Corkey Bell book:
Bar & plate would have less pressure drop. Extruded tube (stock type) should have more pressure drop but better heat extraction. This all depends on how many "turbulators" are inside the tubes.

So, it's a toss up. Kind of like deciding between a top/bottom & side/side flow cores.

I'm trying to decide from reading the book but seems like Corkey would suggest a top/bottom extruded tube core. A size of ~24"w x 9"h x 3"d should work great for ~400HP.

I owe that book just about everything I know about turbos!! It's just about worn out now!
