WOW guys!!! All of those examples are beautiful! I don't think the transmission would look good that color, but its awesome you can do something that large. Maybe if it was a gun metal color it would be different. Any chance we could get picks of the (red) transmission in the car?

We will be doing ceramic coatings, anodizing and hard chroming in the future. Also, we're working on getting our our phone line up and working in the next few days so if anyone wants a quote until then, feel free to email us at jnzfinishingllc@yahoo.com. Thanks :)

I thought the same thing about the trans...but the customer wanted it. It actually didn't look half bad in a clean engine bay with a matching valve cover.

Did you get a picture of the red transmission in the car? That might make the difference on how it looks. Pics or ban! J/k :) Great job on the new business venture. Can't wait to see more stuff powder coated, annodized, etc.

RedDevil
02-27-2008, 08:56 PM
Martin@LPC does nice work, not taking anything away from him. But for us, powdercoating will just be one aspect of JNZ Finishing. We started with it because Josh already had the gun and did some coating in the past so he knew what was involved. Going forward, my focus will be the hard chrome, ceramic coating and head porting, anything that helps make power :) Powdercoating will just be one of many services we'll be offering our customers.

JNZ Finishing will be entering our 2nd phase of development in the near future. We ordered our ceramic coating last week and should be testing it out on some parts later this week. I'll post up some pics when we start the process and see how well it holds up under the most extreme conditions. Pricing will follow soon after that, along with our new website! So stay tuned! VERY EXCITE! :D

Here are some pics of the first test piece we did over the weekend. Its a friend's pipe from his quad. He should be coming down tomorrow to install it and start testing it out. The color is called "Shiney aluminum", basically a gloss silver. The finish came out nice. I'm still learning the best way to apply the coating using the airbrush but its pretty straight forward. I'll update again when we get some more feedback on it :D

Can you PM me a price of a FP Race Manifold Ceramic Coated black?

RedDevil
05-01-2008, 02:10 PM
Its been awhile so its update time! :)

We now carry a "Wrinkle Red" powder, very similar to the jDM tYte Honda valve cover color. Our first shipment should be here tomorrow or Monday.

On the ceramic front, here are afew prices on the most popular parts, soon to be up with the rest at www.jnzfinishing.com:

Stock/95/Evo/FPcast manifold - 90$
Short tubular header - 110$
Turbine housing - 45-75$
O2 housing - 45$

Turnaround time for ceramic is usually 3-5days, depending on how much prep is needed for a used part. Prices are for coating INSIDE & OUT. We currently stock a semi-gloss silver (like on the pics above) but can get gloss black and white. We also have Cermakrome, which is good to 1400deg and not really ment for turbo apps. I'm going to be testing it on my JMF manifold to see how it holds up. I'll post the results once thats done, STAY TUNED!! :D

Why would anyone want to do inside the manifold? You will never see it and it will get destroyed after the first WOT pull.:dunno:

Why would anyone want to do inside the manifold? You will never see it and it will get destroyed after the first WOT pull.:dunno:

Ceramic coating is a thermal barrier, so if you coat both the inside and out it works much better then just the outside. For a cast manifold, you can go either way considering how thick the cast is. But for tubular headers that aren't as thick, doing both is a big help. As for it falling apart, thats not really true. Its made to take temps up to 2000deg, so it won't flake off if its cured correctly. And even if it does, its not going to mess up the turbo.

What base coat does that black chrome require? Can you guys do a 1 piece uicp?

Black Chrome doesn't need a base coat but it does help depending on the substrate(material) its being applied to. I did a VC using our Ultimate Chrome powder as a base over black chrome and it come out really nice. That intake mani and VC didn't have a base coat. Also, clear coating is recommended for any chrome to protect against oxidation. A 1 piece UICP won't be a problem for us to do.

You think it'd save a cheap ebay manifold? If it worked, it'd be pretty cheap to pick up a tubular manifold....

Ceramic would definetely help a tubular manifold, mainly because of the thickness of the metal compared to a cast piece.

Haha you tell them chris! or is this joe?

Yea man there is no competition between the two of us we actually work together and send each other customers depending on whats going on. I think JNZ Finishing does great work keep it up fellas!

Its definetely a cool color. Depending whether you do a chrome base or not, really affects the finish. That one I posted had a chrome base, w/o it the color would be darker, more like real copper.

Turnaround for powdercoating, depending on the part, is 2-4 days plus shipping. Ceramic is 3-5 plus shipping. Cast manifolds are 90$ and tubular 110-150 depending on size. Chrome ceramic is more since it has to be polished.

I've never done that but I can imagine it would be tough, since you'd have to make sure you got every little spot of powder off the VC before you baked it. I could try it but it would probably more expensive then a regular coat job.

Just wanted to extend another discount out there:
Anyone who sends in a 4G63 Valve Cover for powder coating is eligible for the following package price:
Valve cover gasket, set of 4 spark plug well gaskets & a metal half moon seal will be sent back along with your new shiny valve cover.

No if you were to go down to your local Satan this would be over $66. Normally ordering the above from us would be about $52. With the valve cover service it will be lowered even further to $48.32!

We have a regular gloss white, then theres textured white, white vein and metallic white. Shaving is usually around 50$ extra, about 40 mins worth of work.

Damn that texture white VC is exactly what I want!
Okay, so my request is a bit odd but I have a "JDM" VC for my GSX and would like the "DOHC" and "16 Valve" shaved off but I still want the "Mitsubishi" on it.
I would want the "Mitsubishi" letters wet black.
And the rest, of course, coated that ^ texture white.
So how much that cost all together?
I wasn't sure because I didn't want all of the letters shaved.

RedDevil
03-14-2009, 09:27 AM
Shaving a VC is usually 45 mins or so @ 85$/hr, so doing only half of it probably 20 mins. Then the black letters would be 15$ and the white 50. I'd have to check and see if I still have some left from that Evo VC I did, if not, it would be about 20$ to order it in.

A sweet set of Volks I did the other day. Apparently the only set in the country this size: 19x10 w/ a 12mm offset.

Started off like this

Ended up like this - Black Magic :D

I've been very happy with the wrinkle black on the custom surge tank and intake pipe shown on the last page (they are mine obviously). I just sent them a valve cover to be done in silver vein with some AN fittings added in for breather ports, I expect good things once again.

He'll be able to give you a pretty good idea on cost shortly. He is in the process now of completing a similar request for a local racer.

Any updates?

The gold ore actually looks more uneven then it is in that picture too. The camera doesn't pick up the gold the same way because of the texture of the coating. We just did a customer's 18" Enkies in that gold ore and they are pretty awesome actually.

You'd probably be looking in the 75-85/wheel range depending on color(s).

Do you have a sample of the red anodized or does it look the same as the candy red over chrome?

Thanks

Ya its basically the same thing except its flat instead of glossy. Same 2 stage process as well (done over chrome powder, real chrome or polished alum). I did a fuel rail afew weeks back but didn't take a pic of it. Its pretty close to real anodizing, especially if done over real chrome or polished alum.

Have any more pics of the Silver explosion wheel you did? Like without the center? It looks similar to mine and we havent been able to ID mine.

Thats the only pic I took. They are apparently old school BBS wheels from a VW that are worth alot of $ from what I've been told, probably because of the size. The center has a large threaded part, like it has one big lug nut that holds it on.

We also have 3 DSM VC cores in stock as of today (10/12). The cost of a single stage VC w/ polished letters would be 140 and 165 for a dual stage plus shipping. Shaving the VC down completely is about 85$ as well if anyone wants that.

We're also going to be keeping a stock DSM valve cover in stock for a core exchange program like we do with the Evo Xs.

The core program will work like this:

You order the core done in any fashion you'd like, pay for the powdercoating work and put a $60 deposit down on the core and we ship the cover out to you.

You swap the valve cover onto your car, box up your old one and ship it back to us within one week. This means that within one week of you receiving it we have a valid tracking # showing that it's on its way back to us.

Once received and checked for cracking, etc., your core is then refunded to you.

This is to help out the guys who don't want/can't have down-time on their cars.

The only note to this is that you HAVE to make sure that the core you return to us is in good condition; no cracks, broken tabs or bolt holes, debris in the inside from a blown motor, or stripped threads, etc., as we have to then use that core for the next customer and won't be able to if it's damaged.

What are you asking for this and do you except shaved valve covers?

RedDevil

That VC was done for a customer but something like that w/ those bungs and 2 different powders would be 75 for the coating, 65-85 for the welding plus the fittings, 35 for the core and shipping. So you're looking in the 230$ area total.

RedDevil

We're currently working on getting a good amount of DSM cores in w/n the next week or so. If anyone wants to go with a core, you won't have to worry about down time
