I have a feeling the ECU in my 90 talon has gone bad. Is anyone running a Haltech. Has anyone had to replace their ECU. I was thinking considering the cost of a new ecu, I may just go Haltech, which would open the door to future mods.

If you are running a Haltech, is it very difficult to tune, and once tunned is it reliable. This is still going to be a street car.

I suggest you look for another ECU. Haltec isn't the way to go for a daily driver, unless you have a lot of tuning experience.
In a couple weeks I'd sell you a 90 ecu for $125. If it doesn't solve the problem you could just send it back.

What exactly do you think is wrong with the ecu?

The car just died. Then after sitting it would start idle choppy and the run again. I replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, and Fuel strainer on the pump. When the car started it ran great after this series of fixes, but it died again and would not start. I took it to a dealer to diagnose it. They replace the fuel pump relay, and it did not fix it. The pumps still good. Now the dealer is playing hit and miss, they want to replace the entire throttle body-$1500, and o2 sensor. I'm picking the car up today and having it towed to CTC motorsport on Monday morning to be diagnosed.

I think you are probably right about staying with the factory ECU. I know a couple of guys with Silvia conversion running Haltechs and tunning has been horrible.

Does CTC have a TMO available? Maybe it can shed some light on it too. It would be interesting to see whether the ecu is just cutting out or if it is actually losing power. There could also be a wiring harness problem, but the ecu is the first place I would look.

WE ARE CURRENTLY USING THE HALTECH. THERE IS ALOT OF WORK INVOLVED BUT WE CAN BUILD YOU PROGRAMS THAT ARE RELIABLE FOR THE STREET. HALTECH IS THE WAY TO GO !!! IF YOU WANT TO BUILD SOME SERIOUS HORSEPOWER AND STILL BE STREET LEGAL GO WITH A HALTECH. THE ADVANTAGE IS THAT YOU CAN CONTROL EVERYTHING WITH IT AND IF YOU WANT TO GO WITH BIG INJECTORS OR A BIGGER TURBO YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO BE SENDING YOUR ECU TO HAVE IT REPROGRAMMED. JUST LET US KNOW IF YOU EVER NEED HELP OR ANY INFO ABOUT HALTECH OR ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR CAR.... WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON A 10 SEC DAILY DRIVER MIRAGE HATCHBACK AND WE ARE USING HALTECH AS WELL.
