Is it possible to hurt your engine by applying too much timing? This ofcourse is done by piggy back computer (ITC). I have a TD-06 20g, with buschur FMIC, 660's, all supporting mods. I have tuned my car to give me (so far) 29 degrees of timing at 6k, and tapper to about 27 by 7500rpm, with out a trace of knock. My EGT's only see high 700's, maybe low 800's during this time (3rd gear). Which is lower then they got prior to the ITC. More timing equalls less EGT's? That just doesnt sit right. Is there a threshold? A limit to this. I know about the factory cams being the reason the timing tappers off at higher rpms (ECU induced). If I am not knocking, and EGT's are safe, is that all I have to worry about? Also, has anyone ran even higher timing then this on Race Gas, is it benificial? Like 30+ degrees? Let me know
Thanks,
Ed
