I searched around and found 2 threads that I was looking for.

The first thread, post 7, says to splice Black and Yellow to (-), blue and green to (+) for both fans to operate like the stock engine fan.

The second thread says to only use blue and black.

I tore both my fans apart and both have 4 wires going into the motor.
Left-One with blue, green, black, yellow (all 4 in one cluster).
Right-One with blue, black, blue with tracer, black with tracer (two pairs of wires on opposite side of the fan motor).

1. Is the first thread talking about rewiring the ac fan?
2. The second thread looks more realistic to me but I'm confused about the extra set of wires with the tracers?

Stock fans are stepper fans. What that means is that they are wound to operate at different speeds instead of a normal fan running at one speed. I have a thread on making the fans operate on the highest setting all the time. This thread can also help you wire in your slim fan.
Post 4 and post 12 should help but read all 12 entries.

Heres the info for stock fan operation for 2G ECU
Heres what happens normally with the fans as I have found on my car.
at idle fan turns on 210-212F Shuts off at 199F
While driving under 50mph fans remain on with temps over 212F and shuts off at 199F
over 40mph fans stay off.
222F both fans turn on whether driving at any speed or idle but while driving both shut off at 217F and at idle the AC fan shuts off at 217F but main fan keeps going until it gets to 199F.

ECU pin outs 20 and 21 are the low and high fan wires. Both ground a relay I assume (or are the +). Could I just cut them about 3~4 inch from the ecu, splice a wire to both of them and use it as a switched ground (or +)on my own relay to power my new fans? This sounds a lot easier then splicing relays together and less confusing to me. For some reason I am lost on how the stock fans work and I keep getting them mixed up.... On my car I swear the AC fan and the black, yellow, green, and blue. Every thing I read seems like those colors are for the main fan.

I know the fans have different speeds but I'm not sure when to expect what voltage from what wire, and what wire looses power on what speeds.

p.s. Ac fan is the the driver side and main on passenger side correct?

Ok I found out how I got them confused:chair:. But from reading other post, the blue is low and green is high with yellow being med. Can I just use green and blue as the + switch and black as - on a relay? I read someplace that yellow has no effect without the stock stepper fans(no clue why).

post 11 last couple lines
Can't I just do that only with a relay instead of the slim fan. Then use the relay to power two fans as main fans.

The stock fan Should turn on at 199* or 195* correct? I have both fans wired into a relay.
From stock harness...
Yellow-Tapped off
Black-Ground spade on relay
Blue & Green-positive spade on relay
I also found that yellow is a constant 12v, car on or off

A fused wire from the battery goes to the relay then out to the positive on the fans, and both fans grounded. If you use a jumper wire to put 12v to the blue/green wires, both fans spin, so every thing is working on that end. I let it idle for a bit then drove around, could only get up to 206* (its cold outside) fans never turned on once. I got the 206* from my logger, so if the ecu is seeing 206, shouldn't the fans kick on?

Stock fans turn on at 212-213F
