Yes, the lights are orange not the plastic so it is possible. What you have to do is take out the lights from each switch. Start with ones on the left side of the steering wheel because it is the easiest and you can get an idea of what is needed to do. pull out the switches from the platic housing and you will see a round thing with a slot in it. That is the bulb. Get a small screw driver and take it out. Now this is where you need to get creative. I have found permenant marker works fine with red and blue work temperaroly. Others have used blue transperant plastic to color it. Blue is a hard color to make bright since it is dark, atleast from my experiences. The only hard part is the lights in the a/c controls you will need to take out your center vent (you need to do this anyway to color the lights around it) and you stero. Ther will be a wire with a 3 inch plastic thing on it. That is a bulb. It is very hard to get to and may take you a while. I hope this helped and if you have more questions just ask. It is pretty vauge i know but it is not that complicated. Also if anyone knows a good way to get a glowing blue besides using LEDs, i dont want to go to the trouble, pleaser explain your technique.

I want my numbers on my guages to be white, instead of orange. I took apart my whole dash, and got to my guages and all that. I was expecting to see those bulbs with the orange cover over them, but mine are clear. I looked underneith the faces for my guage, and it is a textured grey, and the top is black with the white numbers (etc). So, I am guessing there is an orange layer between there, how do I get to it, without having to buy all new faces. (I have a '91 GS)

Yeah, the lights behind the gaugees are the only ones that are clear without an orange coating thing on them. You can sand the back of your gauges and put any color bulbs behind it to change colors, or it would probably be white or maybe a light yellow if you keep the same bulbs. I have never done this so i don't know how easy or hard it is. I personaly got indiglos which I love and you can find them for cheap. It has been posted before so try doing a search. Anyways, changing the stock gauge color is definately is possible.

One very easy way to get different color plastic sheets in varied colors that works well for me is as follows. Find the website or snail mail address of a theatrical lighting company, such as Lee. Then request a sample book or two of their gels. They will send you a small booklet of a hundred or so small rectangular colored plastic sheets of the variety used in stage lights. nNot only are they designed to transmit different qualities of light, but they are extremely resistant to heat.

FYI. Roscolux is another large manufacturer of gels. If you know anyone involved in theatre or in a theatre department at a school or college, it is very easy to get bulk samples of a hundred or so booklets.

oneof27-thanks for the info. I think i will give it a try. I tryed some cheap colored wrap from a gift shop and that didn't work so i gave up on the idea. Hopefully i will have better luck this time because my everything in my car is multicolored right now from experimenting.
