It all started on a warm summer day on the Central Coast of California. The year was 2005. :D
It was nearing the end of my freshman year in college, I was a bit tired of my Scion xB and I wanted something cheap that could go quick. I had previously owned a nitrous fed 97 Civic when I was 16 and now had the nitrous fed xB. At this time I was 19.

After searching for a while, I decided that I wanted a DSM. About a month later, July 2005, I ended up with my first (the first of many as I would later find out.) She was a black 93 Tsi AWD. She wasn’t too pretty, but it was a start. I learned a quite a bit from this car, from just doing all the maintenance to get her running well, free mods, etc. I learned how to port on this car, how to fab up i/c piping the right way, and how to do wiring.

I was pretty happy with myself until I blew my 14b on my way to a dyno day @ Full Function www.FFTEC.com. (www.FFTEC.com) Sean, the owner, was nice enough to hook me up with another 14b and a few days later I was back up and running after hours and hours of porting (at the time I thought it would be worth it…). I got to take it to the track the week before I sold it after taking the suspension back off it, clicked off a 13.6 with a 1.80 60’. Stock turbo, supra smic, 650s, 100ct, untuned. Then bye bye car.
In this time, I met a few local DSMers and would like to thank them for guiding my n00b ass..haha. But they did inspire me and help get me where I was today. Mahesh, Sean (FFTEC), Kamil & Raul from www.HiRevPerformance.net, as well as all the other local guys. And my best friends Nat & Charles for always helping with whatever misc things needed to be done.

So why did I get rid of it? (FLASHBACK!) Well in January, I was cruising the online classifieds when I stumbled upon a 92 Laser AWD that was not running, but had a full exhaust, sportlines, kyb agxs, adjustable control arms, and some misc other things. I called my buddy Nat to go check it out for me and he called me back excited to let me know how clean the car was. The only things wrong were the front bumper needed to be repainted and the rear bumper had black exhaust stains on it. Interior was immaculate, head liner didn’t even sag. A few nights later, I had a CLEAN 120k mile old 92 6/4 AWD for $600. Uh oh, I was already becoming a DSMer…the multiple DSM bug had bit me hard. White with a porno red interior, Lily would be her name (named after Lily Thai…if you don’t know...get to knowing it, you’ll thank me later).

The car ended up having 2 cracked valves, but no other damage to the head or the block. Pulled the head, sent it off to FFTEC to get the valves replaced. With the help of my friend Mahesh, we got the head back on with fresh gaskets, the motor timed, and up and running. Boy was I excited. For a total of about $1100, I had a low mileage, clean AWD laser. And I tossed my 16x7 Enkei RS-Evolutions on it.

Sorry, that part is kind of confusing. I wanted to finish the story of my Talon which was sold in July of 2006.
Then I went back in time a bit yes to the second car, which I got running around April 2006.
Be patient Josh, there's plenty to come. I have to draw an audience first before I get to the good stuff..haha

I guess my explanation was still too confusing? It's a flashback.
I wanted to seperate the stories between the cars. The timeline is like that because I had both cars at the same time. So I had the talon, but got the laser running before the talon was sold. Thats why it seems as if I'm going back in time, because I also have a time machine..haha

Can you put it back the way it was originally. It did not need corrections, lol. Let the checkpoint in the first post be July 2006 like it originally was.
Now if you could edit the beginning of the second post. I think we can clear up the confusion. Right after the "So why did I get rid of it?", please add: *FLASHBACK *
That should hopefully clear things up for people. If not, then I just fail at communicating..haha

Moving along, here are a couple pics of Lily in July 2006 at a local DSM meet. I resprayed my bumper the night before with a couple rattle cans and some clear. Didn't turn out too bad. I was pretty content, considering the amount of money I spent on the car and how clean it was. Original paint too!

I made a couple more trips to FFTEC, and after riding in Sean’s 1g (http://fftec.com/CC4.html), making 430awhp at the time, and after getting sucked into my seat harder than I had ever felt before, I wanted to go fast (or at least what I thought was fast back then).
After a bit of research and the reviews by Jake Montgomery on the FP30 series turbos, I decided on a FP3052. I wanted a turbo that was capable of 10's as well as still fairly responsive on the street. I loved the fact that this setup was all straight bolt on with v-band connections. So I worked my butt off all summer, which is the only time I can since am a full time college student at Cal Poly. Two jobs and countless hours later, I had what I needed.

The night before I was going to do my first clutch job to prepare the car for the new turbo, I smoked the clutch pretty bad. The next day I headed to a friend's house and with the help of my trust friend Mahesh and my current roomate Brian (tstkl), put the ACT2900 & Fidanza flywheel in. I was on my way.
The car ended up with this quick list of mods:
- FP3052 Setup
- 2g Exhaust Manifold
- FP2 Cams
- FFTEC Modified 2g SSAC FMIC
- GM Maft
- DSMLink
- PTE 950cc
- Walbro 255hp

I had Sean @ FFTEC tune the car for me, as I was not at the point where I knew enough about tuning to try to tackle it myself. He helped me through the little bugs on the car and after a few hours, I made 303awhp, 256ft-lb on their Mustang Dyno @ 22psi. I was a bit disappointed in the numbers at first, until I took it for a spin. Wow, what a difference it is going from a stock 14b car to a 3052! Needless to say I did not complain. Right after the car was tuned I took it on a 3 hour drive down to get started back with school again. Here's to another year at school! The car ran flawlessly and I got 27mpg! Too bad I got smoked by a modded FD RX-7 10 minutes after I got on the road, talk about a ball buster. :wall: But at 20 years old, with a 300awhp car, I was happy.
It's starting to get a little more interesting now. The car isn't STOCK!

So...who's ready for another installment?
After fall finals, my roommate I decided to go on a drive to relax and release the stress of studying. I guess I got a little excited. Took the car out on the backroads, came up on an downhill, off camber left hand turn. It was a nice sunny day, but this turn was on the back side of the mountain, and there was still moisture on the road. Moments later, I was part way into the side of the mountain. :wall: :wall: The car understeered and I could not get her out of the turn safely. I had been driving back roads for years, but all it took was misjudging one turn. She ended up with a bent radiator support, fender was a smashed, sideskirt messed up, and the front hub sheared off. I got to enjoy this car for a whole three months...
I will have to try to find pics, I think they’re on a diff computer

Don't worry don't worry..I have more.
Around February, I was ready to start looking for another chassis to toss it in. The Laser really wasn’t TOO bad. I could have just pulled the core support back, fixed the suspension, and put a new fender on her. But I just didn’t feel like it I guess. My buddy Ray (Extreme AutoWorks) had 91 AWD shell for me. I wanted do this one right, I was going to strip the whole car, get it caged, painted, the drop my setup in it. So I called up Sean and asked for pics of his cage, it was so clean and I wanted mine to look just like it. He offered to sell me the car, but at 21 years old with no job, I was in no position to buy a full built car. Well lucky me, a little while later he offered to sell me the chassis. Wow, a clean 90, with a 92 Talon front, CF hood, 8pt chromoly roll bar w/swingouts, and other little stuff, I had to have it. Sean being the nice guy he was, let it go for $1k. I felt like the luckiest guy in the world. A little more convincing and I ended up with quite a bit more than I expected to buy in the first place and a bigger hole in my pocket.

I tore everything off the Laser and got set to transfer it all over to my Eclipse, I named her Nyomi (after Nyomi Marcela, again if you don’t know, get to knowing). Here’s what I got with the car:
- FFTEC 6 bolt Eagle/Wiseco http://www.fftec.com/product.php?productid=16679&cat=0&page=1
- Ported Head with +1mm valves
- Crower Springs & Retainers
- HKS 280 Cams
- 3.5” Exhaust
- Ground Control/Koni Yellows
- Toyo RA1
- Flat bottom trunk floor!
- Half sized gas tank
I spend the next week at Full Function getting everything together. With the help of Sean and the guys over at Full Function, I was able to get the car up and running. Thanks to Sean for letting me use the shop. My 3052 setup mated up to the built motor made a much more satisfying 350awhp/290ft-lb at the same 22psi and 91 octane. As you can see, power was still dropping off in the higher rpms. The HKS 280 cams definitely made a difference in where peak power was.
The blue lines are from the Laser (Lily) and the Red from the Eclipse (Nyomi)

Also, by buying Sean's car, I developed a relationship with Full Function that has allowed me to learn more than I could have sitting online all day...haha. Having a fabricator and a skilled AEM tuner isn't too shabby either.
This is why i always tell people to buy from your local shop. Yeah, it may be a few bucks more than getting it from some online vendor, but you help the shop out as well as develop relationship that will help both parties.

Several months later I wanted to get the car tuned on race gas and to the track. We decided on running ERC A8C (118oct), a well known brand that was made locally. At this point I was learning a bit more about tuning, after sitting shotgun on many tuning session with Sean in various different cars. We got the car strapped onto the dyno, and we began my first tuning session on dsmlink. It’s pretty exciting to drive a car on the dyno, it’s definitely an experience. With Sean there to answer my questions and give me pointers, I got the car to 401awhp, 354ft-lb torque. This was at 28psi on the stock intake manifold and tb, 2.5” o2 housing.

I also redid my suspension a bit at this time. I wanted to fit 17x9 on the car, so I needed to modify the front and rear suspension. And I got those 17x9 to fit beautifully imo.

It's not bad at all. Granted I don't have a full cage, so I'm not concerned about smacking my head on the a-pillar bars. But I don't really notice the back half at all. Usually I just drive around without the swingouts. Makes it a lot more convenient. I'll post up pics later today.

Thanks for the imput, man. I've been considering going with the partial cage w/ removable swingouts for a bit since my interior is already gutted. However, I really am torn between that and making my car look stock as hell/clean in general, minus my rims and FMIC, which would involve putting my interior back in...I guess it's time to get in touch with JMFab and see what the fellas can do for me.

You can definitely have a cage and still have it look clean. From the outside of the car, since it is lightly tinted, you can barely tell the cage is there. The only way you see it is because of the X-bar. Previous to having that installed, you wouldn't be able to tell there was a cage. It all depends on how tight you want the cage in the car.

....allllllrighty! Who's ready for another installment?
So continuing on from last time. We had just broken the 400whp barrier and I soon got used to driving it around at that power level. Granted it was only once or twice on race gas, but it doesn't take long before you want more power. So what do we do, we strapped the car onto the rollers again. Bumping up the boost to 34psi and with Sean tuning the car, we made a much better 444awhp/389ft-lb. You can tell the cams really did their job compared to the FP2. Power carried flat where the FP2 dropped off.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1353/1345194337_b154bafd66_b.jpg
We got the car back on pump gas and left the next day for the 2 hr drive to the track. Thanks to Pat (FFTEC) as well as Mike for coming out to the track with me and hauling all the spare tools, gas, canopy, etc. I was happy to have Pat there to help me out, as he was a veteran of the track, having owned two 10 second Mustang Cobras, and now a mid 10 second EVO. I had my mind set on putting down a 10 second pass on street tires that night, so we were excited to see what we could get out of the car.
My first shakedown pass walking the car out of the hole netted me a 12.6 @ 116mph walking the car off the line (I'll post up the video of this when I get home later today). The car felt good, a lot better than my mid 13’s I was doing with the 14b in the talon. Prior to this run I had never driven the car on race gas, I like it! With a few more passes, I was getting out of the hole better and actually getting on it. Not long after I ran an 11.1 @ 127mph. :D We never got it on video though, my buddy was too busy filming other BS and by the time I was actually getting comfortable going down the track, the battery ran out.
http://www.fftec.com/CC/21/timeslip.jpg
I was getting real close to hitting that 10! After that pass, I could not get another clean one in. I was getting out of the hole harder and harder, but the 1-2 was also getting harder and harder until one run after trying to put from 2-3, the shifter just went wiggly. :dunno: I nearly sh!t myself, thinking that I had broken a gear. Luckily the car was able to coast off the track, and was actually still in 2nd gear. I got it back to the pits to find out that one of the cotter pins on the shifter cables broke off and the cable slid off the shifter arms. PHEW! Well that explains why the shifter went all wiggly. And it also explains why I had a harder and harder time each pass trying to get the 1-2 shift to go smoothly. Stupid cotter pins! Well we decided to leave while we were ahead, packed it up and called it a night.
I never got that 10 second pass, but at least I knew she could do it if the cable hadn’t been sliding off. I was happy with the results, as I did it on 17x9 with 255/40/17 street wheels. Not exactly your ideal drag setup..haha. I may have been able to click off that 10 with just a set of lighter wheels, but it was fun giving it a shot.

Thanks, glad people are enjoying it. I enjoy recapping on the last couple years.
The laser was a great car, it was just bad judgement that caused me to wreck it. The chassis is still on my driveway, the only thing is it needs the radiator support pulled out, which my friend can do, and a new pass fender. Other than that, the car is still rolling for the most part. Going to go to the junker soon though.

Oh trust me, I felt the exact same way. It was the first car I ever was even close to putting together from scratch. But like I said earlier, it allowed me to pick up Nyomi and learn more than I ever expected to.
I may donate some panels to my friends who need them. The only thing I need is the roof skin off it, my old CF hood flew up on me and smashed the roof of the grey car pretty good.
Back to the story will resume tomorrow when I'm at work and being productive..

I will update pictures of the cage when I get back home in a few days. Everything in front of the b-pillars is all stock. I have power locks, power windows, power mirrors. The only thing that doesn't work is the CC and A/C. Unfortunately, my interior is no where near up to par, at least in my eyes, so I don't like to show it off too much. Same goes for my engine bay, I wouldn't want to post it until it is in tip top shape. But keep an eye on this thread. I don't want to give away parts of the story, but the build definitely gets a little bit more extreme :D

Ok...so on with the story...
Around this time, I found a 1g locally with a bunch of great parts on it. Buschur Stage 2 longblock, PTE GT35r, SS 02 Housing, Magnus SMIM, suspension, fuel stuff, ebc, etc. It was a steal, so I had to buy it. I mean, the turbo setup alone made up for the cost of the car. So just like that, I had another potential 10-11 second car. DSM #4.

Some of you may recognize these next few pictures. Yes, that's right, this is the one that was in the classifieds. After my previous round of mods to the car, getting it tuned, etc...I was pretty short for cash. I made quick work of stripping this car of anything worth money. I know, what an a**hole. I know some of you are thinking "You trashed a clean AWD!" or "I could have totally used that car and made it run 10's" But I needed the money for Nyomi. So this DSM took one for the team. The point is to go faster, and to go faster, I needed money. I was gonna keep the GT35r, I got it all ported out and ready to go, but decided that I didn't want to go through the trouble, so sold that to Tsimage. (good luck with your build)

Browsing the classifieds landed me an AEM EMS for a good deal that I couldn’t pass up. Not to mention Sean had been tuning AEM for years. We decided to upgrade a few other things at that time. I got a prototype FFTEC billet intake manifold, a FFTEC leakproof 75mm TB http://www.fftec.com/RevisedThrottleBody.html, and a new FFTEC FMIC http://www.fftec.com/product.php?productid=16272&cat=0&page=1. Alright, who's ready for the next installment. Continuing on from last time.
We had CMI (a local drag race event) coming up that weekend, and we had a few cars to get ready. We got the FMIC and Intake manifold on the car Friday night, wired in the AEM and then took a nap. Around midnight we get to the shop and we start tuning my car on pump gas. I’ll have to pull up the map when I get to the shop tomorrow, but the car made significant improvements in the lower rpm range on pump gas. After we ran out of 91oct, we tossed in some ERC A8C. We managed to get 455awhp, 401ft-lb on a quick tune with the AEM. The intake manifold and tb helped drastically, where power used to drop off at 7000 RPM, the power now held flat. We found the next restriction in the system, the turbo/o2 housing. We got her to pump out 34psi, but it would drop to 27psi by redline. The little 30r just couldn’t keep up with what we wanted to do, but oh well, it would for now.

Here she is at CMI all together

We literally dropped the motor in, warmed it up, let it cool off overnight. Strapped it to the dyno, broke it in, tuned it, and it put down a very impressive 520awhp on its first night. We got the cars ready to go to the track, and set off early that morning. No sleep FTW. Unfortunately, I never got to get a pass on the car at that event. It was still a fun event, met a bunch of new people. It was a good weekend of racing regardless, but I had to go back to school so I made the 5hr trek back.

Flash forward to April, I found another stock tranny for cheap to replace mine as it was starting to grind in high rpms. So after finals, I headed home to swap the tranny and toss in a ACT 6 puck sprung along with it. Several hours later, late into the night, my friends and I got the car done. On the first turn I took, something gave out in the suspension and into the curb I went. I don’t know who or what was to blame for this, but I was one sad kid. I cracked two of my rims, sheared off the hub, bent the tie rod, and bent the rear lower control arm, at least this is all I thought I broke. Got the car towed a whole ½ mile back. I find out soon after that I also bent the rear subframe as well.

I took this opportunity to put in new axles, a non PS rack, factory big brakes, and misc odds and ends. I was unable to get the car put back together before school resumed a week later, so I had to leave it parked until summer. But on a good note, I did pick up a great condition FP3065 for a great price!

Many of you may have seen the partout threads I have on here. At this point I’ve sold of most of what I didn’t need. Now this is where it gets exciting, here’s where I started wanted to go fast. With all my friends having large turbo setups, what was the logical thing to do? Go BIGGER. Well at least it makes sense to me..haha.
After speaking with Kiggly, I decided to pick up a S374 off him with a 1.0 divided T4 housing. This turbo is no joke, it’s quite the hair dryer.
Here it is next to a GT3076, basically my old turbo

Picked up a Shep Stage 3 Trans from a local guy for a good deal. This should hopefully solve my tranny problems. I will be looking to toss a QM Twin Disk in with it as well. Also picked up a Afco aluminum radiator that’s a bit narrower than stock, to help fit the 3” intercooler piping.

Browsing the forums, I saw the dogbox racing car being parted out. So I took advantage of this and decided to take another step and purchased the Dogbox Racing dogbox transmission. A proven tranny that has clicked off a 9.0 @ 160mph, not bad IMO.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/unlmtdndeavor2/DSC01244.jpg
If something looks weird, it is. There's no clutch fork. Why? This transmission has been fitted with a hydraulic throw out bearing. This eliminates the slave cylinder as well. The line connects right to where the hard line is on the pass. frame rail.
I'll report back on how this does after everything goes together.

09-06-2008, 11:21 PM
So even when I had my 3052, I felt like it was a bit too fast for stock brakes. So when I wrecked the car I put the 1g dual pot big brakes on it. But I still felt like this would not be enough. I think something that people forget when deciding that they want to go fast, is that they need to keep safety in mind. Not only with a roll cage and a harness, but also good brakes. At 140-150+mph, if something happens, you need to be able to stop FAST. So I picked this badass setup. It's a Brake Man drag setup, the same that is used by this average dsmer by the name of John Shepherd. I think they should be good enough ;)
It consists of a 4 pot Tornado caliper and a 12.2" vented Revolution Rotor. The setup is ideal for drag for a couple reasons. First, they are larger than OEM and have 2-4x as many pistons, depending on the year of your car, giving the car more stopping power. Second, they are zero-drag brakes, which means under normal conditions, the pads do not make contact with the rotor, like standard brakes do. This reduces the drag allowing faster times off the line. Lastly, the weight savings :D
I weighed out the OEM Big Brakes against these Brake Man ones. The weight savings on the caliper is accomplished by using a forged billet aluminum alloy, which has more structural integrity than factory cast calipers. Weight savings, extra clamping force, and added strength FTW.
OEM 2 Piston Caliper w/ SS Lines & Pads: 14.0lbs
Brake Man 4 Piston Calipers w/SS Lines & Pads: 5.1lbs
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/unlmtdndeavor2/DSC_0188.jpg
The rotors are significantly lighter because of the 2pc design. A steel 1/2" vented revolution rotor is mated with an aluminum mounting hat.
OEM 10.8" Big Brake Rotor: 13.7lbs
Brake Man 12.2" Revolution Brake Rotor: 6.9lbs
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/unlmtdndeavor2/DSC_0185.jpg
That's a 8.9lb savings on per caliper and a 6.8lb savings on each rotor. Combined thats 15.7lbs per side weight savings. That's a good amount of weight to be shed, considering it is all unsprung weight. And even better, that there is 6.8lbs (13.6lbs total) reduced rotational mass. :tat:
I'd say I'm pretty happy with what I got. I'll have to do some road testing once the car is back together to see how they do. I'm expecting great things, as this setup retails about $1600 new.
So now, I have enough stopping power to get myself down to speed safely. But what about pre-loading the drivetrain to help the car get off the line faster? The factory e-brake can only do so much, so I picked up a staging brake setup, made by CNC Brakes.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/unlmtdndeavor2/DSC_0187.jpg
I'll post up more as I'll have more free time soon, since my wallet is getting thinner, which means less time out and more time at home since I'll be poor. HAHA. Hopefully it's getting more interesting and exciting for you guys reading. Until next time..

So after you get a big turbo, you need something to fuel the car. With all that air going through the motor, I needed something more than my puny 255hp that I had before. Well I picked up a dual 255hp setup with a -8an outlet, all in a 1g sending unit. Not bad. It shoulda held me up for a while. But, as you guys should be able to tell by now, I can't really help but upgrade. So I decided that if I was going to do a new setup, I was going to go BIG. So big that if running gasoline, I should never have to upgrade. So what does this indestructible fuel setup consist of? Well let me tell you.
- Two -8an Fittings out of the tank
- Magnafuel -8an & -8an to -10an Y-Block
- Magnafuel -10an In-line fuel filter
- Black Braided -10an Feed Line
- Magnafuel ProStar EFI Fuel Pump (1500HP Rated)
- BG -10an In-line fuel filter
- OEM Fuel Rail -10an in, -8an out
- Magnafuel FPR
- Black Braided -8an Return Line
Retail about $1500 or so for the setup.

Maybe I should post this in the noob section, but should I rewire my fuel pump? :P
Next in line was what I would need to cool all that hot air coming out of my Borg Warner blow dryer. After a bit of searching, I decided that I would like a Garrett core. The core itself ended up being 24x12x4.5. Considering the core I had before had no issues, and had been pushed to 600awhp on my friend's car without heatsoak, I figured the 4.5" thick one would be fine. And it's quite the beast.

So since the car has been down all summer, I needed a car to drive. I had the black xB but I gave it to my sister. So I picked up a 1995 Acura Integra LS Automatic. It has nearly flawless paint and a flawless interior. I got it with 87k on it. And I know it was well taken care of, because it was my mom's old car. Planning on keeping it mostly stock, except for a few minor things. So far all I have is some H&R Coilovers. Here she is:

Ok ok...enough of the Honda stuff, I'll get back to the DSM.
So with the dogbox, I needed a better clutch than that old ACT2900. So I picked up exactly what everyone has been recommending. The Quartermaster Twin Disk. Thanks again to the guys over at FFTEC for getting it to me quicky. I took a bunch of pics of it but my dumbass accidentally deleted all of them. I even took the time to weigh the parts individually and get pics of all the weights to compare it to the ACT. But I will tell you that it is significantly lighter. If I remember correctly, the Fidanza flywheel was lighter than the Quartermaster steel one, but the PP and Disks were much heavier on the ACT than the Quartermaster. It's pretty badass, all black looks better than yellow, not that anyone will see it.
So sitting in my garage for a year has been a set of 16x7.5" wheels that I had set aside for some DR or slicks. They are Kosei K1 in white...seks.

The next thing I need is tires for these wheels. I'd love to say what they are now, but I got to keep you guys reading. Hopefully this is still intriguing.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying it. I wish I had more pics of the stuff from before. The hardest part for me building this car is that I'm in school 9 months out of the year, 3hrs away from the shop. And then over this summer I was 6 hours away from the car, making it even harder to work on the car. I had all my parts delivered to FFTEC so some of the pics were taken by the guys over there. If I had every part in front of me, for sure there would be a billion pics. I'm kinda a photo whore.
So who wants to guess what tires I got. The winner gets to see a picture of them! I'll give you a hint, they are hard to find and were on backorder for months. Any guesses?

Turbofonz is the WINNER!
I got a set of 255/50/16 Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials to go on my Kosei K1's. Can you say..meaty!
I would have loved to pick up a set of Hoosiers or some wrinkle wall M/T, but I have decided to keep it a street car, and I can't exactly drive those on the street. I mean yes, I could do short point to point driving, but that defeats the purpose of a street car. The M/T are the best streetable drag radials out PERIOD. The only others that are grippier, would be the Hoosier DR and the M&H DR, both which use compounds that are far too soft for the street. I needed a tire that would be able to withstand 6k+ rpm launches on the S374 as well as make 200+ mile trips from the shop, to my school, to the BOTI finals in Fontana. The M/T were the ones. Ask nearly anyone that has ran them before, especially the domestic guys who have the most trouble with traction, hands down the best DR out there. It was tough to get them though. I purchased the last 2 from Jegs and then 2 off ebay. No one else had them in stock, not even M/T themselves. We'll see how they do. I don't have pics of them mounted yet, so here's a teaser.

Around $700 for the set of tires. That price was shipped. I could have purchased them cheaper if I would have been more patient. My friend is a manager at America's Tire Company, but their warehouse was out of stock and M/T was on backorder.

I got the Kosei for a good deal so I figure I'll run them for a while. Ideally I'd like some lighter 15's for the future. As for street wheels, I loved the RPF-1. And if I were to get some 17's again, it would be between the RPF-1 in SBC, TE's, Advans, or something a little more rare. I'm excited to get those tires mounted and put them on the car. Should look pretty mean

A little update. I got the clutch and trans onto the car. But of course, like I said before, my dumbass deleted all of them. Many of you may have read around the forums that you need to use an auto tranny spacer or shorter bolts to install the QM, but I had no issues. I do not know why there is an inconsistency on this topic, but I just used the stock 6 bolt bolts and red loctite. The dogbox is also on, I just need a fitting for the -AN fitting to attach to the stock clutch hard line.
The brakes have also been installed. It was actually kind of a PITA because the brackets came backwards. Weird..but after fumbling with it for a while, I got them on. They look pretty badass IMO. I only have a quick pic of the brakes on the spare wheel setup, but here it is anyways.

Ok...so I got some stuff onto the car for test fitment today. I was going to work with the guys at FFTEC to design a new top mount manifold for my setup, but due to time constraints, and trying to get the car done for BOTI, I just bought a manifold for the time being. So I got it the mail, courtesy of Jake Montgomery. A nice shearer top mount. This is the older style with the single 44mm gate. It will be nice having only one wastegate, saves me a solid $300. I have no plans on running under wastegate pressure, so I will be fine. High boost application is what this car is made for anyways. Along with it came his 3.5" SS side exit exhaust. Thanks Jake for giving me a good deal on this and getting it to me safely. Well here it is.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/unlmtdndeavor2/DSC_1987.jpg
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/unlmtdndeavor2/DSC_1988.jpg
So I test fitted the S374 on there to see how it would look. It's quite pretty. I wish I had a new one that was all nice and shiny. But for the price, I couldn't beat it. Even with my new afco radiator, the upper radiator support would need to be trimmed, since I have a 12" fan on it. If I were to go 10", I'm sure I could fit it, but I wanted plenty of clearance. So what do I do, I get the sawzall out and go to town. Plenty of room now! I will be welding some bracing to the sheet metal, as it is pretty weak w/o the center section. Here it is.

Alright everyone, time for an update. I guess it only makes sense to update my build thread, as I am getting flamed like a forest fire on my other, I guess you could call it the unbuild thread. HAHAH
So I finally got a bit of time to work on the car. It's been sitting around for months and months now. Being 7 hours away from the car all summer while I was on my internship, and being really swamped at school this quarter, I haven't had a chance to touch it. I got the gas tank out, just need to let it air out so I can weld in the sump. Lines are ran under the car as well, and boy are they fat!
I started on the wiring today. As the car has a bunch of things that need to be cleaned up. From it previously being converted from a 90 to 91+, going from AEM with the previous owner, to DSMLink, and now back to AEM, there was plenty of wires that I could eliminate. Wiring is really time consuming, who woulda thought trying to get rid of some stuff would take hours, and I'm not done. Got rid of about 15 wires on the engine harness so far, I think I have a few left to go. Hopefully this will clean up the bay a bit.
My core is finally getting welded up. I should have pics of that soon.
It's not much to update about, but it's a start.

Got a little bit more of the wiring done today. Let me just say if you ever plan on working on the harness without pulling the dash, be prepared to fight with it a bit. The harness is taped up together right behind the firewall with this plastic clip around it. It makes it so that it is impossible to pull the harness into the engine bay a few inches nor can you pull the harness into the car. You can't reach the clip from the inside under the dash and you can't get to it through the firewall hole. So as of now, I may have to yank the dash off, but that's a pain in the ass.
That's all for now. Hopefully we can get some of the fab stuff done soon. I could use some intercooler pipes and a dp. Until then...
To be continued...
