Alright I'm very excited to be able to offer the members of dsmtalk AMSOIL.
AMSOIL is one of the leaders in synthetic technology. A lot of you may remember that I used to love Mobile One with a passion. A while back, Mobile one had a lawsuit against Castrol because Castrol was using Group III base stock oils and calling them synthetic. Mobil One actual lost that lawsuit, and in the process figured if they couldn't beat them they would join them.
It was at that point I began to look for a new oil for my cars. I looked around locally to find AMSOIL but no one carried it. I then decided if no one around me carried it, I would become a dealer for them myself so I could get it, and the rest is history.
If you would like to visit the AMSOIL store here is the link:

Now AMSOIL might cost a bit more than some other competing brands, but AMSOIL can save you money in the long run. How so you say, well how about a 25,000 mi or even 35,000 mi oil change interval on cars considered in normal service mode (perfect for your daily driver). How about a 17,500 mi oil change interval for severe service (most dsm's would fall into this category). Let’s do some quick math on an oil change for a 2g.
Lets assume you drive 17,500 mi a year
30 quarts of regular 10w30 oil at 2.50 a quart $75.00 in oil
6 standard oil filters at 6$ a filter $36.00 in filters
$111.00 for a year
5 quarts of AMSOIL 10w30 at 11.10 a quart $55.50 in oil
1 AMSOIL EA filter for a 2g 17.30 a filter $17.30 in filters
$72.80 for a year with AMSOIL
That’s a savings of $38.20 a year with AMSOIL and you get to protect your motor and turbocharger bearings with a full synthetic lubricant. For those that don't believe in oil coking on hot turbo charger bearings when you turn the car off, try your car on normal dino oil for a while with hot shutoffs after driving hard. When I did my first oil change on my 1995 Talon TSi AWD way back in 2000, I was greeted by some huge chunks of coked up oil coming out of the drain pan that almost looked like black gummy bears. A good synthetic can and will protect against this. Plus if you factor in all the wasted time from doing 6 oil changes a year vs. one, you've got more time to things that matter, like modding.
